The extra footage really helps complete the story. I was hoping for some more footage with Smaug but there was not any.

It was awesome!!!! Seriously, make sure you purchase all the hobbit movies. Because once it's over you'll want more!

This DVD was a gift for my wife. She used to read "The Hobbit" on road trips. Anyway, she loves this extended edition.

The movie followed the overall story of the book and was enhanced not only by the acting, but also by the cinematography.

You can't go wrong with adding ANY of the LOR & Hobbit DVD's to your collection and this one just contines the tradition!

If you're a fan of Tolkien you've probably already seen it but it was worth the purchase to re-watch. Great effects but the story does wander a bit from the original books and adds characters that never appear in the series.

I thought it was a great movie, even better than the first. The 3d on my tv was just as smooth (to me) as in the theater.

While still slightly hamstrung by "middle chapter" narrative problems and its formidable length, The Desolation of Smaug represents a more confident, exciting second chapter for the Hobbit series.

My kids wanted to see the whole series so they purchased it and started the movie night during their school vacation.

I love this movie trilogy and I'm so happy I was able to get all three movies for a great price on Black Friday.

Part two of this trilogy continues to provide excitement and tie many story lines together. The movie providers the viewer with a never ending thirst for more and more which should hopefully culminate with the final episode.

The Hobbit & Lord of the ring movie series is one of our favorite collections. The quality of the picture is amazing.

Always loved the Hobbit series, wish they would have done these three before the original three, but I'll take it anyway!

In this case the extended narrative offers up some interesting inclusions, such as characters completely cut out of the film previously that really do tie together some of the scenes/situations. 3D presentation is great.

Just like the L. O. R movies it ramps up for the final movie. The collectors key is cooler then I thought it would be.

The hobbit series is just as amazing as the Lord of the Rings trilogy. If you are a fan, you will not be disappointed.

sometimes these things drag on. you know u will watch because its an epic series ok. why drag these movies out? i think the name wasn't good either as Smaug is not desolated. but i suppose They had to come up with something.
