"The House with a Clock in Its Walls" is a fun movie for the whole family to watch just some spooky moments for the younger ones so beware!

The movie, The House with the Clock in it's Walls was one I saw the previews and was interested enough to buy it to see the movie. It has a very colorful and vivid storyline that is very interesting to watch the movie unfold and makes you want to see it again. I also enjoy the added parts of the making of the movie to make the movie even better to have!

Fun movie to watch especially in October time. Love the fact that they including the Atmos track on the Blu & it was packed with plenty of low end LFE, it was heavy on the surround & height channels too.

The House with a Clock in Its Walls is a family movie that provides an equal level of action from each family members perspective. Comedy filled action adventure set around a young boys’ life after a family tragedy leaves him, living with his uncle. A magical mystery filled adventure that is sure to entertain everyone. Although, it is not set at Halloween, this would be a good background / Halloween theme movie to stream during the holiday for the kids to watch as they get their trick or treats peering in the front door.

I'm not a Jack Black fan, but this has got to be one of his best movies. He and Kate Blanchett play off each other so very well. It was one laugh after another. The orphan, played by Owen Vaccaro, held up his part in the movie exceptionally well. The movie was well paced, the story line kept your attention, and the surprises were truly surprising. Keep an eye on some of the background in the movie. They add to the movie. We watched it the day it arrived. I'm sure we will watch it several times.

My youngest watches this a lot, so maybe 8 years old is the target audience. That said, if your children are timid, there is a lot of creepy imagery that you might not want a youngster see. Most of the story line is good, there are just some unnecessary additions from a parent's point of view. I don't need the bodily fluids/etc. emanating from creatures/beings. Minor spoiler alert: Jack Black's head on an infant body also was too weird and also didn't logically fit with the plot in my point of view.

What a beautiful 4K . The colors are rich, the movie benefits from the HDR. It’s an entertaining first chapter to a series but it has a feeling it needed more of a pitch, the movie feels like it starts in the last chapter. There’s plenty to be entertained by in act 1 and 2, but it feels like what it is really trying to say about itself starts in the last act. The cast is very good especially the kid.

I had never heard of the book this is based on, and I had never heard of the male lead (Jack Black), but I figured if Cate Blanchett was in it, it had to be worth trying. And indeed it was. A wizard died and left a house primed to wreak destruction. Now his relatives are living in it and the tick-tock in the walls is driving them nuts. Enter a 10-year-old nephew with wizardly genes. It's a great story. I hope I have not revealed any spoilers.

I wasn't sure what the expect heading into this movie, aside from Jack Black being awesome. It neither disappointed nor impressed. If your kids are okay watching the Munsters or Addams Family, this won't be too scary for them. Nothing really stands out in it for me, and if not for Jack Black it would probably be 3 stars, but it's a good story that reminds us to embrace our differences and our own self-worth.

Sat down with the family and we all watched this together. 4 of 5 loved the movie (perfect role for Jack Black and Kyle McClachlan was a great 'bad' guy) and the other, our younger son, commented that it was "OK, but I'm not 12 anymore". Colors are great in UHD. Soundtrack was all over the room with surround. Fun story. 4 of 5 of us left the TV room with a smile. The other one did, too, he just didn't want to admit it.

Purchased this for my 10-year-old daughter. She is a big Harry Potter fan, and also enjoys spooky/suspenseful books (ranging from RL Stine's Goosebumps series to more serious faire). She loved this movie! The magic elements and effects are great, and Jack Back and Cate Blanchett turn in good performances as well. I have a feeling we'll be rewatching this one more than a few times.

Movie was ok. Not as funny as I’d hoped. Kinda cheesy. My kid liked it so that’s all that matters. I would’ve personally given it 3 stars, but being it’s a kids movie and my kid liked it, I’m giving it 4 stars on behalf of her. On a side note about Jack Black...I love him and most of his previous stuff, this wasn’t his greatest works by far unfortunately.

This made me think of a mix of different themes...darkness, wonder, mischief, magic and, of course, mayhem. Pretty good romp. Jack Black does a great job in a semi-serious role and Kate Blanchett hits several emotional states very well. The actors work very well together and seemed to have a great time making the movie with the chemistry they seemed to have.

This movie is a great one for the whole family. It is interesting as well as captivating of your attention. My 10 yr old grandson is the one that started us to purchase this movie. The plot is good and keeps you guessing about what is next. The discs are packaged well and it has a DVD, Blu-ray and Digital copy. Also the price is reasonable for what you receive.

Blanchette is quickly becoming one of my favorite actresses and she is really The only great thing about this movie. She always brings it. Jack Black was......well, Jack Black. He was more toned down than I expected. I thought he was better in Jumanji. Really good video and audio here, but a slightly above average family movie.

Before buying this movie, I knew I was going to like it a lot. After watching it, I loved it. I had purchased this movie in 4K Ultra HD and this made the movie more enjoyable to view. This is an awesome movie to watch with your children or grandchildren of seven years and older. I believe that you will not be disappointed at all.

Note: I have NOT read the books that this movie comes from. All I know about this movie and story is the movie itself. It was a fun, fantastical movie. A few things I could have done without, but overall good fun. Jack Black and Cate Blanchett were hilarious together. Their banter was my favorite part of the movie.

Jack Black and Cate Blanchett are perfect together in this flick. I absolutely loved them. JB is one of those actors that is hit or miss and I think this was a hit. I have to admit, in the theater I jumped a handful of times which I wasn't expecting. This movie has a great mix of action, plot, comedy, drama, etc.

I love Jack Black in Goosebumps so decided to try this movie. Glad I did, for he's got such fun energy in each movie genre that he stars in. Cate was delightful also. This movie was fun and enjoyable, definitely a family movie with popcorn, cuddled with blankets, on a cold winter evening (or any evening). Enjoy!

Who would have thought torture/horror maven Eli Roth would ever make a "family" film?? He actually manages to restrain himself. It's not exactly Harry Potter but it's a decent enough film involving Magical forces. Jack Black and Cate Blanchett work surprisingly well together.
