Yawn
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I gave it some slack since it was made in the 80's, but I thought the pacing and acting left a lot to be desired. Not worth the money I spent on it.

great werewolf pic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Released the same year as An American Werewolf in London, this tongue-very-much-in-cheek werewolf film (many of the characters are named for people who directed werewolf movies) deals with news anchor Karen White (Dee Wallace) who goes to a mountain retreat (called simply "The Colony") with her husband (Christopher Stone) to recover from a recent trauma. Not long after arriving, she discovers that the inhabitants are werewolves. Unlike their cinematic brethern, though, these lycanthropes can change from wolf to human at will-& it doesn't take long for the sexiest of this group (Elizabeth Brooks) to convert Karen's hubby. Joe Dante directs this the same flair and with a few of the same players as he did with Piranha.

The Mac Daddy of Werewolf Films Arrive on Bluray
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Apart from the 1940s Wolfman and An American Werewolf in London, The Howling is one of the most memorable werewolf movies of all time. Scream Factory doesn't disappoint with this collector's edition that features hours of bonus materials (some ported from the MGM DVD, others made especially for the release).

Horror's forgotten Wolf gem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Though not as good as I remember it being from my youth, I am still happy that Scream Factory finally dedicated this film to Blu-Ray. I initially thought that the length of the ears of the wolves made them look like were-rabbits. The story is a bit thin, but the performances especially Dee Wallace and Robert Picardo is great. Though I do wish they had upscaled the BD Bonus Features, I am thankful they did implement them. I know Scream Factory works on a tight budget with these projects and their effort is appreciated. There's over an hour of specials and they give a unique perspective into the film as well as the mind of director Joe Dante. The thought of descending upon a lake shore retreat inhabited by werewolves is an intriguing premise. I've grown to have an appreciation for the appearance for the werewolves as they look uniquely "Howling".

Pretty decent effects, kinda scary
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm more of "An American Werewolf in London" kinda guy but this one is pretty good too. If you like horror movies or werewolves you'll probably enjoy this one...its a little dated, more so than AAWIL but its still worth a look see...
