While this is a reimaging (almost entirely), it is done in true Disney fashion. May be a bit intense for youngsters, but this movie is very respectful to the original animated feature. Phenomenal acting by Mowgli and the CGI cast.

This movie is amazing and very well done. The characters I grew up with and my grandchildren love are brought to life before our eyes. I will say that it is a little scary BUT we watched with them and they loved it. My 3 and 4 1/2 year old grandchildren were glued to the screen from the very start of the film to the end. We did not see in theater and I would say it might have been traumatic there; however, at home in familiar territory surrounded by family they loved this movie. Well done Disney!!

I purchased this for my grandson. We took him to the theater at the age of 5 to see this movie. He loved it so much, I recorded a video of him reciting the story the next day where he accurately told exactly what happened. He's now 7 and can still remember seeing the movie, so I purchased it for him for Christmas. A special time he will always remember every time he watches it. The movie itself depicts bravery, compassion and trust in a time when we need it most.

I think the Disney animated classic of The Jungle Book stands out in everyone's mind as the version all the other get compared to. This version was very well done and different enough in terms of story and plot stayed fairly true to the animated version. There was enough difference to it that made it worth making a new version. All the actors did an excellent job and the animation was some of the best I've ever seen. I highly recommend seeing the latest version of The Jungle Book.

Good retelling of the original jungle book story. I’m glad that Disney is deciding to bring these classic stories to life. Watching in 4K makes it that much better. I hope production companies continue to make dvds, blu rays, and 4K movies. Streaming gives you the quantity, but the actual disc gives you the quality. To me, there is no comparison. Would def recommenced this to a friend !

There are so many reviews on here whining about how this version is not like the book, boo-hoo-hoo get over it. Not every thing has to be "just like the book". This is well done in "it's own" right with great voice overs that capture the essence of the animals. Great from beginning to end. Bravo! Highly recommended to all walks of life.

Yes, it is a remake. It's made to make tons of money from parents buying it for their children. Most directors would have took the easy way out by looking at this at fluff and not requiring any real effort but Jon Favreau made a film that might rival the original (it does to me) and crafted great motion capture performances from his cast. Idris Elba would be considered for a supporting role Oscar if the Academy could get past the fact he is playing a tiger.

the technology involved in putting this film together was something else. Looked very real. Loved the character voices. Storyline is a little different than the original. They touched the song from the original but didn't spend a lot of time with it. My 4 year daughter was a bit scared at times. But fun film. Play Blu Ray on 4k UHD Player on a 4k Tv. Awesome. It helps. The only reason I didn't give it 5 Stars is because Disney has not committed to 4k UHD Blu Ray. This movie would be amazing in 4k UHD HDR. I hate wasting money on dated tech. Blu Ray is done. Disney needs to get with the times.

I watched this movie when it first came out on blu ray and thought it was a good movie. Well I recently purchased the Best Buy SteelBook in 4K. The movie is beautiful but the story was so much better the 2nd time around, I truly enjoyed every moment. I got it on sale for $14.99 and it was sooo worth it. Jungle Book is now one of my all time favorite Disney movies.

Just when you thought the Disney franchise couldn't top themselves, this gem emerges and destroys all records. A true masterpiece is putting it lightly when I describe this film! It pays homage to the original in infinite ways, makes the baddies SO much more intimidating and terrifying, enriched the world and characters, up'd the culture and lore and added in some tunes you'll know from the start. This film is an absolute MUST for any Disney fan!

Great mix of live action verses animation. I have the original version on Laser Disc. Regretfully, my laser disc player recently died. I have a couple hundred laser discs, with the original Jungle Book being one of my favorites. I wanted to see this new version anyway and I was not disappointed. Nothing will ever match Phil Harris' song as Baloo as in the original. This version is very good but the original song is a highlight classic. I can still listen to that song as a stand alone by itself. This new version is a retelling of the original that was worth doing. The director, John Favreau, brought is own vision while remaining true to the original. I was glad I bought the movie and will watch more than once. Four Stars!

This is a wonderful children's movie. It is a fun time. The Blu Ray has EXCELLENT special features detailing the production of the film. Also, it comes with a Digital Code which you can use for Disney Movies Anywhere; this is a streaming service that you can link with your amazon video, iTunes, Google Play, and Vudu so you don't have to choose which one gets the digital movie (if you have these digital services, this is very convenient))

Awesome movie. We purchased it for our granddaughter when she comes over to our house.The first day we sit down to watch it with her we were all glued to the TV the entire time. My granddaughter is 18 months old, we figured that she would not pay very much attention to it, boy was we fooled. Since then we have probably watched it 12 or 13 times and it seems to get better every time. All I can say is totally awesome!!!!

Loved the movie but despise how Disney chose to release this title. First there were no 3D version and now they released it a few months AFTER announcing they would most likely not get a 3D release, forcing buyers to double dip for the same title. Luckily I held off on the 2D release and will be doing so for any Disney release in the near future. They did the same for Star Wars the Force Awakens - friggin highway robbers.

This film is accompanied by a highly tantalizing and attention-grabbing sound-track along with a sound-effects package that is exceptionally realistic and well-tuned to each scene – thus the over-the-top viewer enjoyment. Its’ saga is of a man-child’s relationship with all the animals in the Jungle that he comes in contact with – a pleasant and enjoyable story and great view for all ages.

I love most Disney movies and this one did not disappoint. The special effects are phenomenal! The scenery is breathtaking and the "live" talking animals are so realistic. There are a few scenes that could potentially be scary for small children depending on how sensitive they are (Shere Khan is a formidable foe, and Kaa and King Louie could be a bit frightening as well) but other than that it is a great family movie.

I was leery when I first heard that they were making a live action Jungle Book movie since it is my favorite Disney movie but I was blown away by how good the movie was. It pretty much follows the original even down to the river scene were Baloo and Mowgli are singing the "The Bear Necessities." Great visuals, and the casting of Idris Elba as Shere Khan and Bill Muray as baloo are perfect! Highly recommend this movie!

I was raised on the original Disney cartoon and while enjoyable, I feel this version has a more serious feel to it, and not just from the realism of the animation (ie from cartoon animation to CGI), but in the tone of the film. It sort of lost it's child-friendliness, in my opinion as a parent. The older version I would be comfortable showing to children of all ages, while this one might not sit well with little children and create some sleepless nights (for the children and their parents). Besides the change in feel/tone the story is enjoyable and the acting is good. The sale price was great and this includes Blu-ray, DVD, and HD digital.

I was skeptical about disney remaking this movie into a live adaption. I mean, the animated version was just classic, and anytime you do a remake you risk ruining your image of the original. However, I learned over the years to never question Disney. Boy, they made a fantastic movie. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the movie. All the voice actors delivered and the boy that played Mowgli was awesome.

My kids are actually the ones who convinced me to get this. I was a little skeptical at first thinking it was going to be like a typical Disney musical sing-along, however the story was good. The graphics on it seemed very real on the cover, and look even better once we got it home on the 4K. I would strongly recommend this to anyone who has kids and enjoys a good movie to sit down with them and watch.
