    I think The Lego Movie is the perfect example of competent, briskly paced animated fare that exceeded everyone's expectations and was therefore hyped into oblivion. It's a good movie, yes. But there's really nothing special about it. There's some funny stuff here and there. A big shift towards the end left a sour taste in my mouth. Up until that point, The Lego Movie does a great job of not feeling like a giant ad for Lego, until it does. Disappointing but worthwhile.
