This was a great price for the Blu-ray of this movie.

a very good movie for everyone in the family to appreciate

This extended version dvd set, part of of J.R.R. Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, is quite good, though I cannot recommend it if you already own the 4-disc extended version. There are some new bonus features on this most recent version, but unfortunately almost all the previous bonus features from the past dvd releases have been dropped, as has the DTS audio. Fanatic fans may want to purchase anyway, but it's an unnecessary and costly investment in my opinion.

My son is really interested in the complete Hobbit triology & prequel and really enjoyed this movie

I bought the DVD because of the price. $4.95 I wanted it for a condo that rents.

This dvd set of the first installment of J.R.R. Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy is quite good, though I cannot recommend it since the dvd set containing the 'extended versions' is so much better. If you're going to invest in these movies, you may as well go all-out and buy the films in their most complete format.

I like the Hobbit movies better, but LotR is good as well.

It is a good movie but the last 45 minutes drags on.

The movie sucks for me because it was building up to be really good and just ended. I know its part of a trilogy but it ends with no real ending. The next Star Wars saga is too much for this series. It's not good at all

They cut out huge chuncks of the movies in the steel book series so it would fit on one disc. Parts of the missing sections of the movie made it to where it didn't even make sense. If you love the original movie don't buy these copies.

this full-screen dvd version alters the original theatrical aspect ratis of the movie from 2.35:1 to 1.33:1, giving a picture in which you lose almost 50% of the image on each side in every scene. Buy the widescreen version instead.
