I'm very much into the lord of the rings and the hobbit movies so much that I want to be buried with them when I pass from this world. When the last extended edition hobbit movie comes out I can watch a marathon of movies in stunning blue ray.

Love the case, clarity, and extra context. This is the best way to fully experience the trilogy,cause the regular dvds don't have all the scenes shown here, and to me its so awesome to see the behind the scenes and the making off a movie I really like

Unlike so many other extended/director's cut versions, the extended edition is the only way to go for LOTR. The packaging is excellent, sturdy, and not prone to damage, the discs look wonderful, and the movie is one of the the best.

Been looking for this for some time. This set covers everything that you would ever want to know about the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I recommend to everyone who is a fan.

Got the BR dvds in before the prelude "The Hobbit" debuts on the theater screen. It was great to relive the original series again. I get to pause and look at the backgrounds in high res and get to view the type(s) of cgi that was added or dubbed in. Awesome!

A wonderful rendition of an incredible book series. Peter Jackson created a masterpiece and a must-have for all of Tolkien and fantasy lovers. A stunning story, amazing graphics, incredible music, all rolled into an exquisite Blu-ray package.

I remember watching the theatrical release of these films. I loved them. But watching them on blu-ray and extended? There just aren't enough words to describe the perfection that is The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

I really wanted the Best Buy steel box version but when this went on sale I couldn't resist since I also had a $20 Best Buy gift card given by Best Buy from a previous purchase. Properly shipped and product package is very nice.

These movies are amazing in the first place but the extended editions take it to a new level. Plus all the behind the scenes and making of documentaries make this a must own.

The movies in this box set are excellent with great picture and sound. The special features are a big plus with lots of behind the scenes and pre-production material that will keep you from talking to people for days. Overall it is a great buy.

Wow what a set! The extended versions add so much to the theatrical versions and the special features...wow they are are a feature each in their own right. Best presentation and best transfer. If you don't own this you should.

Hands down the best trilogy of all time 2nd to Star Wars. I can't wait to get my hands on the 4K 20yr anniversary trilogy set next year; extended edition of course.

I really enjoyed this trilogy. I originally had the DVD set but decided to upgrade to the extended Blu Ray version and am not disappointed. Great picture, great sound and watching it in Hi Def really is a great experience.

I was going to wait for the 4K version, but couldn't. I'm very pleased with the quality of these though-it may not be necessary to re-buy when they finally do release

The Lord of the Rings movies hold up well after 10 years and the HD transfers are nice. Something like a full day's worth of bonus features makes the set worthwhile. Plus, now that I have the Blu-Ray, I am not so hesitant to lend out my DVD copies.

We've always been a huge fan of the movie, and are pleased to upgrade to the blu-ray version. The extended edition has a lot of extras, but does seem to slow the story down.

This pack has a lot of amazing extras included. My son has started watching them and absolutely loves all the extras! Well worth the money spent on them.

The blu-ray set is nice. Definite improvement in picture quality over the previous dvds. Not only is there a improvement in sharpness but in color fidelity also. Can't wait for the Hobbit series to be finished and have them all. Would like to see Best Buy put the true price of the item on display. Amazon had it cheaper by 15 dollars, so I went to my local Best Buy to see if they would price match. When I got the item scanned for a price check Best Buy had already matched Amazon's price but I had no way of knowing this initially.

I would have given this 5 stars if the extended cut had been relegated to 1 bluray disc instead of 2. The bluray version of the film is excellent. The extra features are the same DVD versions from the original Extended DVD set. No one can complain about an HD version featuring the classic line "NO ONE TOSSES A DWARF!" If you don't have the set already, this is a great addition to your movie collection.
