Of course an excellent movie trilogy. Blu-Ray quality is outstanding...looks awesome on an HDTV. The extended edition adds something new to the version seen in theatres. Haven't watched all the bonus features yet, but so far they are great. Very interesting & informative...the lengths they went to produce this movie is unbelievable. I'd recommend this to anyone, box set makes a great gift & bought as a daily deal for $50?! Couldn't pass that up!

There's nothing too profound to say here that hasn't already been said. It's the same glorious film that we fell in love with, only in greater visual detail. This is easily one of the most masterful transfers to BluRay I've seen. A lot of movies that are later transferred to an HD format have a lot of "noise" to the picture, but not the case in this experience. The same immersive and award-winning audio experience as was on the DVDs remains intact. One thing to note is that the special features are still in standard definition, only the movie itself is in HD.

I'll keep this short because chances are you're already a fan of these movies and you don't need any further validation of why they're so good. However, on the off chance that you're on the fence about this set let me assure you that there is not a better collection out there. Aside from the forty hours of behind the scenes material this set features fantastic film transfers for all three films, lightyears ahead of past releases.

I was so excited to get the Extended Edition on blu-ray at such a good price, on sale for $50. But imagine my surprise when it also included a digital download which was not mentioned in the description (offer expires 6/26/12)!! Now I can watch the extended movies on my iPad, I am in Middle Earth heaven!!

I bought these based on seeing the Siege of play out on a huge screen in-store... the new visual and audio improvements in the Blu-ray set are mind-blowing. If I have one critique it's that due to enhanced definition some of the CGI-work is a little more apparent in viewing each film. That being said - any serious LOTR fan will consider these a must-have.

If you're thinking of buying this sat, chances are good that you've already seen the films at least once, if not many times over. All that's really important to know is that this is all 3 LOTR films in extended cut form (and the added scenes do make a lot of difference, especially in the 2nd and 3rd films) plus a whole lot of special bonus features that are actually very worth watching. If you love the films, this is the version to get.

This set contains extended editions of all three Lord of the Rings movies, along with plenty of bonus features. These are wonderful fantasy films, telling a compelling story of good vs. evil with plenty of adventure and heart. I would recommend this set to any movie fans. It is quite an experience to get lost in this world with the characters of Middle Earth.

The blu-ray transfer of the extended films are hands down THE version to own. The picture is pristine, and the sound is intense. You'll feel like you're in Middle Earth! I really only have two small quibbles with this set. 1) The bonus features--some of the most extensive & enjoyable you'll find for any film--are NOT in blu-ray. The quality difference is noticeable and disappointing. Furthermore, there is nothing really added to them from what was presented on the DVD extended versions. 2) I was really hoping they would be able to place the extended movies on one blu-ray so as to avoid having to switch disks mid-experience. Alas, you'll still have to get up and switch movies before the Fellowship can depart Rivendale. Overall, some of the best blu-ray movies you can own. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I was really hoping that the special editions would not require swapping discs on Bluray. I mean seriously...these discs are big enough. Granted, they loaded up commentaries and whatnot for each one, and I know many people might not want to commit the time to finishing the movies in one sitting. I like to finish them though, and I was upset it wasn't a one disc thing. That said, everything else is perfect, and even that isn't a huge drawback (hence my 5*s).

I waited for the blu-ray edition since the original extended trilogy was released. All tha ttime waiting and i am provided with everything i had hoped for! The difference is stunning on a 50" 1080p tv. However, on a asmall 32" 720p the difference is belittled in comparison, but there is a fine line between hd and sd nonetheless. Beautiful film.

What a great set I own the dvd extended version and wanted to check it out on blu ray. I would still highly recommend this format. The picture looks great. I would like to put them side by side for comparison. I think the blu rays are hands down better without the side by side. If I didn't have dvd formats I would be upset but this is still a no brainer to buy. Get with the times and get a blu ray and enjoy.

GREAT movies that need to be in your library. Brought these over to a friend's house and had a LOTR marathon. Took almost 12 hours! Acting, plot and scenery are just fantastic. You will be blown away at how beautiful the landscape is in the films. Makes me want to take a trip to New Zealand where they filmed it! The digital copies will allow me to put these on my NAS so I can stream them anywhere in my home.

This movie series will go down as one of the best of all time. Some my not like it because of the violence, but Harry Potter is not PG-13 either and a lot of people die in that as well. You have to look at the picture as a whole in Blu-Ray to see how great this movie is.

This production is one of the best movies ever made. Peter Jackson has done an incredible job of adapting this amazing story to the screen. It is fabulous in every respect and we love to watch it from front to back as a family. The new extended version is terrific and has some great new scenes. This is a classic that every home should have. Love it!

It's great to see Peter Jackson's Masterpiece of the LotR Trilogy on Blu-Ray disc. This is an absolute MUST for all Ring people out there and ought to be the definitive and FINAL version. One caveat though the extras that were part of the original Extended DVD's are NOT in Blu form. They might've priced the set higher had that been the case.

This is pretty much way more than anyone really needs, unless you're a nerd like me. I have not watched all the bonus footage yet, but I will. You should know the story, or at least have heard of it by now, so I won't go into the details of that, but it's well executed by Jackson, and I'm looking forward to the Hobbit when it comes out.

I own the original cut of these movies, but have always wanted to know what the extended version had in addition. I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised. It makes several parts of the movie make so much more sense! The plot is more logical, more complete, and even though still quite a ways off from the book, it is much better.

I paid for this product with mostly Reward Zone certificates and Best Buy gift certificates; NO REGRETS!!! I especially love that they included digital copies. I add them to my iPhone during long plane/car rides!!!

No complaints at all about transfer of these films to Blu-Ray. Each and every movie looks awesome (could care less about green palate controversy). The packaging of the movies is very well done. Feel substantial solid but easy to move the movies in and out of cases. My biggest gripe is with how the "Extras" are presented. This would have been the greatest release ever- had they package the extras onto a single bluray disk for each movie. By having the extras on dvd- you can not help but think you have double dipped for an exact item you have on your shelf already....

I have been waiting for this to come out on Blu-ray for quite some time, and it is finally here! this has to be my most favorite movie of all time. Blu-ray makes this movie look and sound amazing. the extended version is the only way to watch this film.
