Wow! I thought this saga looked great on DVD, but this version is incredible in every way. Don't know if I'll get through all the added material on the bonus disks, but it was worth the purchase price just for the updated sight and sound on Blue Ray. Also, what made it even better, it was on sale when I bought it.

Overall great to have it in blu-ray to see the detail and quality of cinematography. But I don't think it makes sense to buy at full price, which I didn't. The extras is good but not great. Don't think anyone has time to watch through all these extras, unless you're a diehard fanatic or just killing time.

I'm usually a rent it and forget it kinda guy but having the entire collection was worth the purchase. It's fun to try to figure out where the extra footage was added since it's done so seamlessly. I haven't gotten around to going through the 9 supplemental disks, but am looking forward to it.

I had been waiting for this for a long time now. I picked it up when Best buy had it on sale. The only downsides to this boxset are that the movies are split onto two discs each and the extra discs are all DVD and not Blu rays. Other than that everything is exceptional and I would totally buy it again. The transfer quality was spotless and clean. The sound was phenominal. The extras are also interesting and fun to watch.

Ordered this from the deal of the day email I get for $50 and had a $15 reward zone coupon. No brainer for a set that normally costs $100. Excellent movies as we all know, the blu-ray transfers are superb. Sounds great on my home theater. Definitely a must buy if you can find the right price.

you already know how amazing these movies are, so no need for a lengthy review. the movies are great, the blu ray transfer is gorgeous, the audio is wonderful and there are so many extras you will probably never see them all. why are you reading this? you should already own these.

This is a great buy on this box set had been looking to get it for some time ,and when it went on sell for $50.00 I jump on it .The sound and picture is great can,t go wrong on this if your a LORD OF THE RINGS fan these movies will last for ever ,and be classics in the movie industry also.

If you're a LOTR fan the extended versions are a must see. If you're never seen LOTR the extended versions might be a bit much as they are very long films even as a theatrical cut. Looking forward to viewing with the kids when they are older. One of my favorite trilogies.

this is definitely a purchase that I will never regret. I recommend this set to anyone that hasn't purchased 1 or more of the movies on blu-ray already. Im pretty sure that this is as good as these movies are going to look and sound. They did an amazing job on this box set.

It's going to look great on my brand new HDTV (Also bought it from Best Buy) since the pictures going to look a lot sharper and even more breathtaking than the DVD set. My only problem is it's a 15 disc set. I thought a Blu-Ray disc has like 10x the storage amount than a regular DVD. I know the DVD version has a 12 disc set because my family owns it and the company should've made the Blu-Ray an 8 disc set, maximum. Besides that, the edition looks really awesome and it's going to be a nice addition with my other Blu-Ray collection. My next Blu-Ray purchase after this, Star Wars: The Complete Saga :)

This was on sale for $30! How could I pass this deal up? I love The Lord of The Rings and have never watched the extended cuts before. I've come to the conclusion that the only reason scenes were cut, was because of time. I loved every extra bit.

I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS COLLECTION, THE BOX IS STURDY AND DURABLE, IT HAS DIGITAL COPIES, THE STORY IS THE MOST MEMORABLE AND REMARKABLE OF ALL TIME IN MY OPINION, FULL OF EMOTIONS AND GREAT MOMENTS

As a huge fan, this box set was perfect with it's extra scenes. I enjoyed the appendices of the making of the movie, definitely a lot of interesting footage and I recommend for any fan of LOTR/Hobbit. The quality of the casings are nice too.

This extended edition of Lord of the Rings is fantastic. The extended scenes add a lot of missing content from the original editions. The blu-ray quality video is top notch, and definitely adds to the enjoyment. Well worth the price of purchase.

The Blue Ray is super clear, The movie experience is perfect for almost all ages (the monster scene's can be a bit scary for young kids). Steven Jackson really made an epic trilogy and the DVD packet includes just a wonderful and full sweeping story arc.

Excellent set at a great value, with good quality video and a comprehensive set of feature. I do wish that full soundtracks would have been included.

Perfection on disc. The movies alone are worth the asking price. Watching all of the behind the scenes gives you a greater appreciation of how truly groundbreaking these films were.

Best trilogy now on blu-ray. This in my opinion is one of the greatest films ever made. I have it on DVD but it was on sale for $50. Couldn't pass up on the sale and upgrade to blu ray. Can't wait to see how awesome it is on my HDTV.
