These fantastic movies are made even greater and more in-depth with the added scenes. As for the special features, they are reason enough on their own to get this version instead of the theatrical versions of the movies.

This product was very well priced especially considering how much there is in extra content. It was the first thing I bought on pay day.

I was blown away by these movies when they came out over a decade ago, and the extended editions actually improve upon already incredible films. I watch these at least once a year. As perfect a trilogy as there is.

Excellent movie, extended version helps to explain background if you have not read the novel. I already had the extended version in DVD format, but bought the blue-ray version because of the reviews from other purchasers. Maybe I just do not have a good enough tv to see the difference, but I wa dissappointed that I could not see enough difference to justify upgrading to blue-ray. If buying for the first time, I would recommend it, but I would recomend upgrading only to techies with premium systems.

I bought this set for my brother for Christmas. I have the extended editions on DVD and they are some of my favorite movies. The blu-ray edition brings even better picture and sound and great special features.

I love LOTR, but I hate buying a blu ray and getting special features on a regular DVD. It's standard on pretty much every DVD/blu ray you buy, but don't advertise "15 disc box set" when it would only be a 7 disc set if the special features were put on 1 blu ray like they should of been. Other than that, it's all good.

I purchased this when it was on sale for a great price. It includes the extended version of the films plus tons of other content. Also, the case looks great! I would highly recommend this to any LOTR fan!

Got this for my son for Christmas. Well worth the price. We have watched it multiple times and it is incredible.

This is just a superbly done movie. And it looks great on blu ray. I would highly recommend for any who is into fantasy...This is at the top of that genre.

The greatest movie is Return of the King (2003: PG-13) because it is full of the most action!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I owned the DVD version of this when it first came out. It's fantastic. I bought this just to get it on BluRay. The quality is a bit better for the movies - the extras are still just on DVD.

This is one of the greatest trilogy's ever brought to screen I love it to death.

The special effects and special features are FANTASTIC. I've only got a 32'' TV and even I was impressed. There are 15 discs in the set, and 12 of them are special features. I definitely recommend it!

If you love Lord of the Rings, have money and the system, this directors cut package is worth a hundred bucks. The picture is fantastic and surround sound is brilliant. This is what HD was made for.

I gave this set as a gift to my son and daughter-in-law. They have the high-end video system to get all the detail on these disks and they are telling me that watching the first disk was fantastic.

For those of you who own the Extended Editions of LOTR on DVD, you are aware of the all-annoying disc-change in the middle of the film. According to the official announcement (found here: http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=6045), the disc split will be back on this Blu Ray version of LOTR:EE. It is aggravating to no end, given that Blu Ray discs are 10x the size of DVDs. Read all the details for yourself, but be aware that the disc split will be back.

great a adaptation read the books movies or adapted well love the extended version better shows more what's in the book I would highly recommend this to anyone who is a Lord of the Rings fan

It took long enough but it finally came out. My only gripes are that the movies are split up into two parts despite being on Bluray discs and the fact that the extras only come on DVDs.

I just got it yesterday and its like watching different movies its awesome. My only complaint is the movies are split up I understand why though its just bothers me. All in all its a great set

This is truly the definitive box set for this awesome trilogy. Sound and picture are both incredible. Extras are topnotch but are only in standard definition. Nevertheless it is still incredible
