I was really hoping for something more scary. I am disappointed with this movie; I own all of Rob Zombie's other movies and love them all. Lords of Salem was a real letdown.

I have enjoyed all of Rob Zombie's movies until this one. Wish I would have seen it before I ended up wasting my money buying the Blu-ray.

I was not overly impressed with this Rob Zombie outing. Not nearly as good as his Halloween outings.

As a fan of "House of 1000 Corpses" I find that all subsequent Rob Zombie films have gotten progressively worse. I did not finish watching this waste of time. Sad.

    ORIGINAL HORROR AT ITS BEST!

Now a days most horror films are the same plot recycled over and over again well in 2012 The Lords of Salem written and directed by Rob Zombie that tells the origin and the upcoming events of Salem better known as the witches gathering. The film stars Sheri Moon Zombie, Ken Foree, Lisa Marie, Dee Wallace & Meg Foster. Its a very different kind of horror film. It's definitely not for everyone. Either you will hate or love it. Personally I loved and enjoyed it. It's definitely a new take on horror. Remember this film contains satanic and graphic images. DO NOT watch with any children or your parents. It's definitely a must see if your into witch craft or if your just into the history of the salem witch trails.

    A Surreal, Cautionary Masterpiece

Rob Zombie’s The Lords of Salem is a masterpiece. Make no mistake about it. Regardless of how one feels about his previous films, this is something altogether different. It marks Zombie’s ascension to a new level of filmmaking prowess, a level barely even hinted at in his previous work. He has graduated from the pop writing and visceral shock-horror of his prior cinematic endeavors and emerged as a genuinely intelligent writer, a sensitive director of actors, and a powerful visual stylist. Though the film retains much of the gritty surface Zombie has been refining over the years, for the first time there is a deep well of subtext beneath it; there is a singular intent behind the gruesome imagery. Stylistically, atmospherically, and structurally, the film is partly a pastiche of The Shining, Rosemary’s Baby, Dario Argento, Ken Russell, and other surreal films and filmmakers, but this is a creation that is unmistakably personal and impassioned, the work of intense vision and purpose. With this film, Rob Zombie has proven himself as someone capable of much more than just pop horror - he has shown he can make films with real insight and depth. He can back up the morbid shocks with something meaningful, and he has also displayed a striking command of beautiful imagery. The Lords of Salem is a masterwork that is unprecedented in his filmography, and a film that took me by surprise. It is beautiful, disturbing, cerebral, and important.

    Going old school

As Rob Zombie is want to do, he taps into an earlier era of horror. This has the slow burn of "Rosemary's Baby" but the warped, over-the-top, imagery of 70's horror. Zombie may be taking himself a little too seriously in this one, but it is an effective horror film that doesn't rely on cheap scares. The dread grows as we tumble down the rabbit hole with our protagonist, never knowing what may happen next.

Slow and atmospheric, yet very effective

This set comes with a BluRay disc and DVD disc. Rob Zombie's most recent film is shot beautifully. While it's been criticized for being too slow, this was a conscious stylistic choice and lets the viewer soak up the atmosphere. Some say the movie makes no sense, I can't argue with them there, except that for me it's more about what a movie makes you feel than what sense can be made out of it.

As a fan of Rob Zombie's previous films, I was anticipating The Lords of Salem. While I was ultimately disappointed with the film, I still found it to be enjoyable. Lords is not a film that I would recommend to the average film goer though. It is short on story, high on strange imagery, and laughable on some of the character designs. If you like slow build odd horror films, then I would recommend this film to you.

I was a little worried at first, as I had heard some negative reviews on this movie. But, being a Rob Zombie fan (music and movies) I went ahead and ordered it. I loved it. I have watched it a few times already. I think it is really creepy and unlike his other movies. Sheri Moon Zombie (his wife) is the main character and I always love seeing her in his films. I think it is just really a matter of opinion. You either love it or you hate it. But, I would atleast give it a try if you're a fan of Rob's movies.
