Read the book, then saw the movie. Not disappointed for a book to movie adaption so I am happy that I was able to get this for a low price.

Great price for a fun movie. Blu-Ray and digital is always important to me and when I can get it at such a great price it’s hard to pass up.

Good fun movie, shines in 4k on my Xbox One S. Listened to this on an old Yamaha reciever with an SVS subwoofer attached, sound was incredible!

Neat movie with great acting and fantastic special effects. Good blend of suspense, drama, and humor. Good upbeat story with uplifting ending.

The Mars panoramas are well done and the story keeps you engaged with the extended edition, have plenty of popcorn... this is a good film.

I’m glad we got the movie in blu Ray. The sound and clarity are awesome. But I think Matt Damon is awesome in every movie he’s been in.

Great movie must watch. I don’t want to ruin the movie but it’s a good one if you like space and the idea of traveling to a different planet.

I'm not a Matt Damon fan, but he was great in this movie. Considering most of his scenes were done alone with no one to base his acting on, his emotions came through strong and clear. I would give the movie 5 stars except the book was a little better.

This movie is excellence. Based on the novel by the same name, the movie stars Matt Damon as a stranded astronaut on Mars. Damon is excellent and hilarious and the story hooks you. The movie also looks great and it has a stellar supporting cast. Watch this movie

I really enjoy this movie, easily an all time favorite of mine. The SteelBook edition is really nice and has a good matte finish.

It’s hard to believe that a movie that focuses mainly on one man can hold your interest for over two hours... but it does so effortlessly!

Though the plot is essentially the same and the visuals are stunning the movie only lacks in some areas that those who have read the book or listened to the audio presentation will find annoying. *spoilers ahead potentially* Changing Venkat Kapoors name and ethnicity to that of Vincent Kapoor is not the biggest deal. Chiwetal Ejiofor is a strong actor and really tries to feel what a man stranded on another planet feels. Though it was a bit of a stretch to feel him as Hindu which added a spiritual and if not atheistic view to his character. My biggest issue comes with Annie played by Kristen Wiig. A strong female character in the book who is willing and ABLE to play ball with government bigwigs/NASA nerds and the media but also nieve enough about actual space travel to give her some weakness was the best part of her character in the book that the film compartmentalized. She is the NASA press secretary. She delivered most if not all the bad news and fielded all the tough questions and storms. In the film she mostly stands there and interjects a few lines and facial expressions. I felt as though they picked on her in the film. From the Secret Meeting (did happen in the book) she gets her nievete to show, but then Rich pernel and Vincent use her as pen poppers and props. Her ability to tell off Teddy when Mitch subverts command and sends the manuever shows her balls in a man's environment in the book, but no where in the film is her character used well. Instead its given over to Commander Lewis played by Chastain. Who is as strong as they come. Though they take it a bit far with her having to do all the saving is a bit much. Sebastian Stans playing best freind Chris Beck is relegated to tossing some cards and doing very dangerous space walks outside the Hermes that were never in the book nor would I think approved by anyone at NASA or on the consulting team just for sheer stupidity. Its like they decided to say hey were taking all your parts, giving them to Chastain and to make up for it you can do these cool space walks. Overall its a good movie. Can't say Damon didnt mail in some of the lines he did as they felt forced and not in Whatney's dry sense of humor, but he made you feel like he was alone and there. So go save him.
