Having read the book, I had high expectations for this film, and when I heard Ridley Scott was going to direct, with Matt Damon as the lead, I was thrilled. Scott is the king of science fiction/space films, and his most recent effort surly does not disappoint. The entire cast is excellent.

As I watched the movie, it held my total attention. The details were great and the scientific principles seemed solid. Yes, there were a number of things which weren't totally on tract, but its a movie and producers and writers do get some leeway in their imaginations.

The Martian is a great movie. It is a powerful journey of one man fighting to get home from Mars. I wouldn't classify it as a comedy but there are some great lines that will make you laugh. There is a little bit more swearing than I prefer to have in a movie but overall it is worth the buy!

Such a crowd pleaser! Ridley Scott directs such an amazing story led by Matt Damon's best performance. The survival aspects and the universal human elements of the film really make it easy to rally behind our characters working toward a shared goal and to become totally invested emotionally!

Wow, wasn't sure about this movie. Didn't see it in theaters, but read a few reviews and heard from friends about. Bought in 3D and sure glad I did. Roller coaster ride until the end. Was hoping for a little more at the end but seeing this in 3D was the only way to go. Beautiful camera work.

Really fun and enjoyable movie. I would recommend the 4K Ultra HD if you have the right TV- lots of great action sequences and beautiful landscapes make it worthwhile.

Okay, I'll start by saying that I love sci-fi, but this is a very gripping movie. It can be a little slow, but in the same sense as Castaway, so it works very well. All in all, a very well done movie that captures the sense of adventure and the drive to rise above overwhelming circumstances.

An amazing combination of humor, emotion, storytelling and solitude, The Martian delivers on all levels. Damon and Scott have produced one of the greatest space films of all time with this gripping story of a Martian left behind and thought dead following a mission to Mars. Watch it ASAP.

An excellent movie with an interesting story about human ingenuity in making a horrible situation into a story of human survival. Way to go American astronaut. This may have been a futuristic Jason Borne episode.

The 4K upgrade is significant in this movie, but the Dolby Atmos track is demo quality, providing you have the adequate Atmos set up. Makes the phenomenal movie even more immersive.

Great movie. Matt Damon pulls it off well. Amazing 4k cinematography. You will watch this over and over. Excellent details, scientifically correct, great characterizations.

I waited to purchase this film because I assumed a richer set would come out in due time. Thankfully that is the case. Extensive documentary is great, though shorter than on Prometheus, which is one of my favorites. Very worthwhile purchase even if you already own the initial release.

Damon does a great job of carrying this movie. No spoiler alert here, as everyone knows he was left behind on Mars. With dialogue transitioning into quite lengthy monologues, it is somewhat of a unique role for him. He really makes it easy to feel what he is dealing with as things unfold

Matt Damon needs to survive being stranded on Mars. Along the way he must overcome the challenges of communication with earth, growing food, making electricity, and surviving emotional swings as each failure could mean his death. The science is explained so it is fun and not overwhelming.

I saw this movie in the theaters, and it brought tears to my eyes. I was able to buy the 4K at a great price from Best Buy. When I played it on my 4K TV using the 4K UHD blu-ray player, it was awesome, like being a part of the movie. My new favorite Martian!

Owned this in blu ray and heard good things about the 4K version so I double dipped when it went on sale with no regrets. PQ and SQ was great and enjoyed watching again!

If you have seen The Martian already then you've of course seen most of this movie already. Being that this is a extended edition you of course get treated to some extra footage during the movie along with some more extras that you didn't get in the original version of the Blu Ray.

I was really turned off towards this film after watching Gravity (quite possibly the worst space movie ever made) but I finally jumped on the band wagon and watched it. Loved it!!!! Now I own it and watch it all the time. Apparently you can survive on determination, sarcasm and potatoes.

Loved this movie...ridley scott did great...best 3d ive seen in a while. Movie has simple but great plot. Gets stranded on mars and needs to get back home lol. The 3d imagery is great the depth of it shows how far and big mars is. Pick this up if you love scifi and planetary environments.

Great movie, great quality. This is actually my first BluRay movie. It was on sale and I had seen the movie beforehand so I thought I'd try it out. Turns out, quality IS better on Blu Ray. I should start shelling out the extra few dollars and upgrade from standard DVDs.
