Best Buy achieves low quality
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great sci-fi film. I bought several movies to start a collector's edition with unopened DVDs/blu-rays as an investment for the future. Most of the cases were such poor quality that I returned them. Some arrived with damage. I returned 24 movies and blu-rays. A thoroughly disappointing holiday experience.

Hard to believe it's been 20 years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I upgraded all my electronics to 4K and Dolby Atmos, I had to get this version of The Matrix. After watching it on the most updated everything, it's incredible to think that the movie is 20 years old. Still amazing, probably just as good as some of the movies that come out today.

Enter The Matrix!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In a world of the future, things are literally not what they seem, where it's Man versus Machine, Reality versus Fantasy, and few who know the truth; among those who do, is Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), who has long awaited the arrival of "The One," who it has been prophesied will be the salvation of the world. Enter Neo (Keanu Reeves), a computer programmer with an innate sense of discrepancy as to the state of things around him; he has questions, most of which are still in the process of being formulated in his own mind. (What is the Matrix). Morpheus has answers. And when they meet, it's Alice down the rabbit hole, and Neo's life is changed forever. Reeves is perfectly cast as Neo, the enigmatic young man who may or may not be "The One," and it's one of the best roles of his career. He conveys a sense of removed, distracted urgency that defines his character, infusing him with both a strength and vulnerability that coalesces as the story progresses into determination and confidence. The underplayed, subtle character development (largely unacknowledged and under appreciated) is a nice piece of work by Reeves. As Morpheus, Fishburne is dynamic; he endows him with a quiet intensity that fairly roils beneath the surface, effectively restrained while leaving no doubt as to the character's power and purpose. You understand his resolution completely by his countenance alone; by the way he speaks and carries himself. It's a memorable performance by one of the truly gifted actors of our times. (What is the Matrix). Other notable performances include those by Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith), who brings a formidable, white-collar sinisterness to his character that is chilling; Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity), a strong, vital presence throughout the film; and Joe Pantoliano (Cypher), who is entirely convincing in his role of a Cyber-age Judas. Rounding out the terrific supporting cast are Gloria Foster (Oracle), Marcus Chong (Tank), Julian Arahanga (Apoc), Matt Doran (Mouse), Belinda McClory (Switch) and Ray Anthony Parker (Dozer). A visually stunning, thought provoking, captivating film, "The matrix" is a triumph of movie-making that assures the Wachowski's a permanent place in cinematic history. The special effects are cutting-edge, state-of-the-art; the choreography of the action sequences is top rate and delivered with a style and effectiveness worthy of comparison to John Woo's best; and, most importantly, the story itself is complex, intelligent, and deftly takes you into regions beyond the known. This is Science Fiction at it's best, but beyond that, it's a great movie that transcends genre or category; a landmark film that must be experienced more than once, for new meaning is gleaned with every viewing. Enhanced by a driving soundtrack that completes the package, highlighted by incredible action, outstanding performances and memorable scenes to numerous to mention, this is a movie that absolutely must not be missed.

Impressive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like another reviewer posted, this Blu-ray comes with a digital copy of the film. However, the insert with the authorization to access the digital copy was missing from the packaging. At first I was upset, but then I found a link in the digital copy's startup program that enabled me to send a message to Warner Bros. Granted, the previous reviewer stated that the drop down menu does not list The Matrix 10th anniversary, and he is correct. But it DOES have an option to select The Matrix Ultimate Collection. I selected this and sent a message stating that the packaging did not include the authorization code. WB e-mailed me within 2 business days (as they promised) with a new code. I entered the new code and it worked - problem solved. While it may not have been ideal, WB did not give me any grief and they made it right - did not even ask me to provide proof that I bought it, they just e-mailed me a code. Besides, I suspect this is a widespread problem and they probably receive a lot of such requests. This is a workaround and was solved with an e-mail and being patient for 2 days.

Must own

Enjoy an excellent movie in high definition!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Surely everyone knows about 'The Matrix', even if a few people still haven't seen it. If you love The Matrix I would suggest there's only one version to buy, and that's the digibook. The packaging is smarter than the regular plastic blu ray case and there's some great photos and text to add a little value to the purchase. The movie on blu ray looks and sounds amazing; once you've anjoyed it yourself you can show off your TV and sound system thanks to the perfectly staged moments in the movie #such as when Neo fights Morpheus, or the imfamous lobby shoot out#. When I first saw The matrix back in 1999 I loved it. I have no interest in the two movies that followed, but I consider this a classic.

Spectacular!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw The Matrix when it first came out in theatres in 1999, and after all this time it is still one of my favorite movies. It's a movie I find myself constantly going back and watching. The plot lends itself to a future in which humans have been all but eradicated by the very machines they created. It will really make you think at times, as it can get into some pretty deep stuff. But, what helps the plot out so much, are the incredible action scenes. Plenty of fighting, crazy stunts, and explosions to go around, and The Matrix has the one thing everybody loves...a classic good vs. evil battle at the end. Plenty of entertainment, highly recommended!

Great addition to my collection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I couldn't muster up enough cash to get the Ultimate Blu-Ray Collection, so I shelled out for this anniversary re-release, and let me just say that it is fantastic. The film itself looks great, and being able to watch the film and hear from cast and crew at the same time is definitely cool. I used the digital copy on my PSP and it looks just as good on a small screen.

Heavy Grain
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this movie and have bought every copy of this since VHS. However this 4k has so much grain it's almost unwatchable. I'm not sure if it's because it's a bad transfer but the bluray didn't have this issue. The movie is great but I'd probably buy the bluray if I had to do it over again.

Groundbreaking and Innovative.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an amzing sci-fi film...it's at the same level as Star Wars. The Wachowski Brothers bring audiences a fresh new idea with amazing visuals and a new technique in their way of filming. This is a great action movie and although it is a little too smart for some people, don't be turned off by it.

A must have for any real collection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Possibly one of the best sci fi films since star wars, The Matix is definetly a must have. AC3 Dolby Special edition sounds so good, I had a heart attack the first time I watched it. With all the visually stimulating scenes and effects, your collection is not complete without this modern age classic.

The Matrix is classic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie is spectacular! A must see for any action or sci-fi fan. Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne are excellent in their roles as Neo and Morpheus (respectively). Widescreen is the best format (besides HD of course) and you'll definitely want to see this movie more than once.
