A deep-sea submersible--part of an international undersea observation program--has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific... with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer (Winston Chao), against the wishes of his daughter Suyin (Li Bingbing), to save the crew--and the ocean itself--from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon.

This movie may not be the movie of the year, but it will hold your attention for its two hour run time. It has action, a cocky bizillionaire, and a sappy love story. It’s worth a watch (at least once).

Makes JAWS: The Revenge a better film

This is definitely one of those "So bad it's good," type films. I kept watching only because I had bought the disc, wanted to see how it ended, and really had nothing else to do. The film is pretty predictable, and the special effects are a step above SyFy channel. Video quality on the 4K disc is quite good as the 4K and Dolby Vision provides great clarity and colors. The Dolby Atmos soundtrack is pretty robust and uses all speakers well. Note the Atmos is available on either the Blu-Ray or the 4K disc. Also, you have to select Atmos as it is not the default option.

Starting watching because I heard it was good movie and when I started watching this I could get into this. The movie just seems boring without any type of connection with the characters.

This movie is sooooo dumb ,but Jason Statham’s performance along with a few funny characters held the movie from being boring. Also the effects on the Meg are great but sometimes cheesy.

Very cool concept on bringing back the world's largest shark from prehistoric times that has been dormant under the ocean's floor all these millenniums. I like the cast that has been assembled, with the exception of the overweight white guy with the beard and the black guy who obviously doesn't fit the script. My opinion, but many agree. The movie has interesting CGI and visual effects. Yes, there is a bit of cheesiness to the story line and script - which most of these type of movies always seem to have.

I initially thought I received the Blu Ray only version. The case did not show any evidence of having the DVD or Digital versions. I ended up opening and seeing that I did receive the correct version. The movie itself is great, one I thoroughly enjoy and have watched many times on demand. Just a fun movie to turn on with action and some comedy relief. Kind of predictable but still good.

Fun movie to watch, Our grandson thought this was the greatest movie ever! Some scenes were a little overdone "awe jeez" and several subtle references to the original "Jaws" movie.

I like Jason Statham. This shark is big - real big. Jason is called is crew of a submarine vessel. Lots of action, ok story line, very good special effects. Good fun entertainment.

It’s not going to knock JAWS off the top spot of shark movies, but it’s well made, pretty good looking, and its acting doesn’t embarrass any of the stars. I watched both the 2d and 3D discs. The 2d has ATMOS sound, the 3D uses DTS-MA 5.1. The ATMOS is a great mix, the DTS pales. The 3D is very ‘natural’ looking and well used. You’ve seen the story and characters many times, but they’re still fun. I was surprised it was as restrained as it was; it could almost be a TV movie. Fine way to waste a couple hours.

I thought the computerized shark images were great! I have seen both the 4k version and the 3d version. There were some nice 3d shots (especially in the under water scenes) The 4k version was extremely bright, colorful and vivid. Of course the special effects have improved vastly since the "Jaws" days. The only gripe I have is I felt there were too many "comedic" type comments which weren't really necessary. All in all a very nice action movie. If you like these types of movies you'll probably enjoy The Meg.

The movie was on sale for $5 and I hadn't seen it so I took a chance and got. It started off not too bad but it gets a little ridiculous in the later stages of the movie.

Storyline kind of drags along as the best part of the movie is the shark. Believable scenes look hard and the unbelievable scenes look easy if that makes sense. Lol

It was ok. Stratham was good but it’s predictable. I was hoping for a little more suspense but action sequences were good. Buy at $10 or less and it’s a fair deal.

I absolutely LOVE sea creature movies, and I really like dinosaur movies. So what better way to combine the two than an action-packed Megalodon movie. There have been several attempts at creating a movie like this, but with little success. My son and I loved it so much that we watched it in the theaters twice and at home more than 10 times. Every time another family member or friend comes over for movie night, it's a guarantee that The Meg will be on the "must-watch" list. Needless to say, we can pretty beat the cast members to the punch with their lines. Can't wait for the next one...

The Meg is not as good as Deep Blue Sea, The Shallows or 47 Meters Down but it is still very much an enjoyable movie experience. The steelbook version is awesome!

The movie itself are okay, I’ll give it 3 out 5 stars but the 4k disc along with the bluray and digital download for less than $10 is worth it.

While the movie has some cool effects, it is way too predictable. But, the kids loved it, so I can’t complain. See for yourself and you be the judge.
