I'm so tired of people complaining about this movie. It was great! Jamie who plays Jace was incredible. His charisma onscreen was spectacular. Movies from books will NEVER be exactly like the books are because there is so much detail in the books. I really hope they continue with the series but since fans won't quit complaining they might cancel it. STOP complaining and give this series a chance!! It was FANTASTIC! Can't wait to see if the movies continue.

While the differences between the movie and book are sometimes rather large, I find that the adaptation for the big screen was well done. As someone who doesn't like to read books before I watch movies in general, I did so with this movie and it turned out to be a good thing. There are some things that may confuse a person who hasn't read the book(s), but all in all things are covered well and the movie itself is well executed. A definite recommendation.

I read the books and fell in love with the series and saw the movie and also loved it. I think the cast is perfect except for Valentine. Clary and Jace are portrayed perfectly! Waiting for the sequels to come out.

I love this movie. I have read the books and enought though it does stick to it it is still one of my favorites.

Mortal Instruments was ok. It has an interesting premise and some good sequences but it was quite boring and more for fans of the book. My wife loved it and she read the books.

Truly a disaster, with cliched dialogue and situations. The acting is atrocious, and the last third of the movie is an insult to people who've seen at least 10 other movies. Lily Collins manages to rise above the material, but she deserves better roles.
