Watch this before Band of Brothers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you haven’t seen Band of brothers Watch this first! If you have then it’s still a great series. Well shot, great story and is leagues above most others. But after watching band of brothers you kind of get the feeling of it was ok. The box set it came with was great and a good collectors item.

Great bookend to Band of Brothers!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.what else do you expect from HBO- strong storylines, great action sequences, and exceptional acting. saw it originally on directv, and couldn't resist buying in bluray magnificence. brings to life the stories that most don't know, and follows them to the end [literally]. watch and learn- I realize that is a strange concept these days.

Different than Band of Brothers, still very good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought on Black Friday for $10, how could I pass up on this great offer with the collectors case. The DVD & non-collectors case runs $15-20. Love Band of Brothers & was hoping for a similar series. Though its different than BoB, its still a great series & I recommend anyone who loves war drama to give The Pacific a watch.

Excellent story
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful story of the Marines fighting through the pacific islands against the Japanese in WWII. Directed by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks so you know it’s good. This is a story like Band of Brothers only to honor those that fought in the pacific.

Great movie set!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to upgrade this historic war miniseries of the WWII fighting from DVD to Blu-ray! The complete set (HBO 10 parts,10 hrs.,6 discs) from BB was only $10.00 and was also the complete steelcase set! Great miniseries with a fantastic HD picture and DTS-HD 5.1 audio! Highly recommend to all fans including war buffs!

Wasn't as good as Band of Brothers.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They really didn't spend much time to develop the characters. The plot was tough to follow. If you are a history buff then it made it interesting. However knowing history, when there were battles etc, they really didn't preface it, just went right to the action. New characters kept popping up. My husband and I were like, "who's that ?" and "where are they now or what is the objective here?" They kept going from the battlefield to home which made no sense as well. All that being said, if you like Military History this was alright. Wouldn't pay full price for it, we bought it on sale, so it was worth it.
This review is from The Pacific - Fullscreen - DVD

Steel Packaging!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can't believe that it has taken this long for me to watch this mini-series! As a compliment to Band of Brothers, The Pacific is a fantastic expression of the horrors faced in the pacific theatre of war during World War II. The steel packaging reminiscent of an ammunition box is a great companion to this series.

Great WWII program and drama
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great WWII program and drama. Most WWII shows only cover the Europe theater and this series covers key WWII Pacific battles and strategies. Plus, there are some coverage of US Mainland thinking and issues when the Marines return home after key battles,

Entertaining, Informative, Amazing.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a gift for my brother, who loves all things military and all things Steven Speilberg, and he loved it. I borrowed it after he was finished watching it, and now I want a copy for myself. The Pacific is very informative and equally as entertaining. Would definitely recommend this to anybody.

WWII Must See
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you like to watch World War II events, watch The Pacific. Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg hit this one out of the park. It is more sobering than their first WW II series A Band of Brothers but The Pacific is still a must see.

Very moving and worth watching
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This and Band of Brothers are both exceptional series. I very much enjoyed both. I might like Band of Brothers a tad bit more, but this is still very good. Awesome packaging as well. Definitely a no brainer for $10. Great deal!

Must see for WW2 Enthusiasts!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Similar to Band of Brothers in scope and production value, yet dealing with the war in the Pacific. It tracks the Marines who landed on several islands fighting their way to Japan. Based on a few accounts of Marines who fought at Guadalcanal and Peleleui all the way to Okinawa.

The Pacific
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Band of Brothers producers Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg re-team to produce this ten-hour World War II miniseries. detail the arduous odysseys of U.S. Marines Sledge, Leckie, and John Basilone from their first skirmishes in Guadalcanal to their eventual return to American soil following V-J Day.

A very good follow up to Band Of Brothers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think this picture had its work cut out for it in trying to live up to the success of Band of Brothers, and on its own I would have rated it higher, but for me it is just o.k., with one portion truly standing out over all the war scenes: and that was the portion of the film where the men get their leave. I wish this could have been stretched out a bit more, or would have had a few different outcomes, however this episode saved the film for me. Obviously the final episode stands out also, but I'll watch B.O.B. multiple times as opposed to The Pacific.

WWII in the Pacific Docudrama
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a series like the Band of Brothers was in the European Theater. The Pacific covers the battles that the Marines fought all the way towards Japan. Very intense battle scenes and the action keeps you glued to the screen. Be ready to watch a few episodes in a row!!!!

An excellent portrayal of the grim reality of war
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having read the book upon which the series was based I can attest to the general accuracy of the series. This 10 part story of the war in the Pacific and the men who fought it is extremely well done. There are no "name" stars but the acting is quite good and the story is well tied together and flows.

Riveting series.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the full series. The characters are real and tell the story of what WW2 in the Pacific was like. I like how they used real veterans that were there to help tell this story.
