Caught this on Black Friday sale for $15. Not as good as band of brothers but still a great purchase

Got this on black friday. I love WWII and it is a compliment to Band of Brothers.

I was surprised how good of a movie it was.I would tell a friend about this movie.

I bought this set because it was on sale. The story is slow but ok.

Don't waste your time. Shallow story, shallow acting

The Pacific is an HBO series released in 2010. It is An epic 10-part miniseries that delivers a realistic portrait of WWII's Pacific Theatre as seen through the intertwined odysseys of three U.S. Marines: Robert Leckie, John Basilone and Eugene Sledge. The extraordinary experiences of these men and their fellow Marines take them from the first clash with the Japanese in the haunted jungles of Guadalcanal, through the impenetrable rain forests of Cape Gloucester, across the blasted coral strongholds of Peleliu, up the black sand terraces of Iwo Jima, through the killing fields of Okinawa, and to the triumphant, yet uneasy, return home after V-J Day. This is another Great Tom Hanks series. Picture Quality is stellar... delivering 1080 p. Sound quality is in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and it is stellar. It is capable of producing excellent low end through LFE.

Unbelievably well adapted combat series with attention to detail for realism down to the last thread. This is a realistic series that pulls no punches and shows you how horrifying combat was for those Pacific Marines. The film work is amazing as you are drawn out of reality and into the gut wrenching hell that was the Pacific war. I would like to see the battles of the Tarawa atoll and Saipan addressed by the same team of Spielberg and Hanks in the same honorable fashion they have crafted this series. unlike most i did not see band of brothers before making this purchase. so i had no expectations of this movie at all. i love military history, and anything about WWII. this was a great movie had me captivated from beginning to end and i plan on watching it again. it might be good to know a little history of the war in the pacific before you watch! i love how it follows closely to the real lives of many great war heroes! just to know its based on real lives make the story all the better! the war scene that take place at night are a little hard to follow and can get confusing at times, but im still very happy that i bought this movie.

This was on of the best things I have ever watched. I know what Marines and combat vets go through. Though this was a small groups story, I feel that it helps paint a great picture. Finally some one does something for our Marine Corps. Thank you to everyone involved in the making of this film. Semper Fi.

I don't have HBO but I wanted to see this mini-series so I just went ahead and bought it, and I'm glad I did. The stories told were all very affecting and everything was very well done. I especially liked the extras, which included a feature about how they made the sets and updates on what happened to the characters after the war (since they were all real people).

I decided to purchase The Pacific after purchasing and watching Band of Brothers. I hadnt really known that much about the war in the pacific and thought I might learn something from this mini-series. I think if you liked Band of Brothers you will probably like The Pacific too. It was a little bit bloodier than Band of Brothers but told a good story.
