This film depicts the struggles of the American Marine so vividly. Helped me learn more about this time in our nation's history. The acting and scenes were wonderfully done.

The Pacific & all HBO mini series are fantastic! If you loved HBO's Band of Brothers, From the Earth to the Moon here is another Tom Hanks production from HBO that you will love. Great stories from the actual soldiers that lived through this time.

Lots of people use Band of Brothers as the measuring stick against which The Pacific should be considered. But they shouldn't as BOB and TP seem to have two different objectives: To show the relationship between "brothers" during a time of war, and the relationship between combatants and war itself, respectively. If you can appreciate it on its own merit, you'll find The Pacific is a great series.

Please, please ,PLEASE. Do not let this JH72 sway you from watching this series. It is absolutely the best war drama available. WOW, this person would not recommend this to a friend yet gives it a 4/5 star rating??? Also if you are worried about "s.e.x" scenes, do not watch because the gore is much to bloody for you!

The acting was actually incredible..the actors went through marine bootcamp to prepare for the roles. I enjoyed Band of Brothers and think The Pacific was much better. A must watch!

I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys military movies. It's filmed very realisticly. It will put you right there in battle and give you a bit of an idea what it was like for the people who were there. It is guaranteed to make you cry and make you feel patriotic at the same time.

This is a very good movie as was band of brothers. I wish it showed more of the fighting rather than guys personal lifes. I was very happy with the purchase and the movie.

Like Band of Brothers, "The Pacific" really brings to life the horrors of war. The men that served in this theater went through things that most of us can only imagine. This series is not recommended for those that can't stomach realistic gore. Strong acting, excellent filming techniques. A slight step behind Band of Brothers, but still a good series.

Band of Brothers was superior. They led you in with commentary and memoirs from the actual veterans portrayed in the movie so you felt like you knew them better and they didn't do the boot camp episodes like Band of Brothers. I didn't feel a connection with the characters as they were getting killed. Having said that, it was still very good and gave you a real sense of the sacrifice the marines made over in the Pacific. I caution anyone watching this with kids under 18. Not only is it more graphic than Band of Brothers but has a lot of mature adult scenes that creep up on you out of nowhere.

Although The Pacific was touted to be similar to Band of Brothers, The Pacific takes liberal dramatic license in the personal lives of the soldiers the stories focus on. The sexually explicit series does not have any interviews with the living veterans of the Pacific Theater, something that I regard as a particular strength of the series predecessor Band Of Brothers. This being said, the cinematography is superb, the acting brilliant. Just not as well done or honest as Band of Brothers, which was a disappointment.

The Pacific tells the story of the Japanese campaign that rarely gets told because of the Germany campaign during the invasion of World War II. If anyone is a history buff like myself that you will do yourself a disservice if you don't pick this up.

I have Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan and have watched them both several times as I will Pacific what an amazing job and what a great mini series.

The Pacific is a seminal piece of war-time drama. It has both humor and heart, but also truly discusses the cost of war and the price of freedom. The bluray packaging in excellent and boasts exemplary video and audio.

I'm not a big history buff but my husband wanted this for Christmas. I'm amazed at how it was portrayed. I was intrigued and could not stop watching it. The imagery was breathtaking. Well worth the imvestment. Best DVD set we own.

Excellent series in it's own right. I wish folks gave this series the credit it deserves and let go of the Band of Brother's comparisons.

When I saw this Mini-Series, it blew my mind away. To realized what our young men did, during WWII, makes you wondered how they survived any of it. Great Blu-ray

HBO has done a really great job with their War epics from Band of Brothers and Generation Kill to this. Out of all three this is the weakest entry but that's not to say it isn't really good. It is. It's better than most war movies made by major studios.

Is kind of expensive but is a good product, now I'm looking for Band of Brother complete series too

Great series depicting the events of WWII in the Pacific. Highly recommend for any WWII or history buff.
