this was a good overall funny story that is easy to watch and doesn't really take too much brain power to follow what the plot has going on.

Semi-decent movie. One of those emotional roller coasters. Plenty of those out there. But this one was not to bad.

The movie started out fairly good, however turned south in that it had both language and content it that was not necessary. It was so bad that it ended our viewing of the movie. If there was a way we could return it for half of what we paid for it we would... but will likely just throw it in the trash. That's sad, the acting and talent chosen for the film was good, but the writing was the same old garbage in the end.

Imagine yourself on the eve of your first day of high school. If you’d prefer not to, I get it, believe me. What if you’d just been released from the hospital? Do you really think you could rebound from that? Charlie (played by Logan Lerman), is a quiet, introspective teenager who has recently suffered a setback, the full nature of which we’re not informed of, and is about to start his freshman year of high school. The only friend he makes on his first day is his English teacher, Bill Anderson (played by Paul Rudd). Rather than worry his parents, (played by Dylan McDermott and Kate Walsh) Charlie gives the typical, one-syllable description of his first day of high school. Time passes and Charlie becomes friends with step-siblings Sam and Patrick. Sam (played by former Harry Potter actress Emma Watson) is an outgoing senior dating a college guy and her step-brother Patrick (played by Ezra Miller) is a flamboyant underachiever with a great sense of humor. They attend a football game together and follow that with a visit to a diner before driving Charlie home. The next function they attend as a group is a party where Charlie, unknowingly, ingests a pot brownie. It is during this moment of drug-fueled confidence that Charlie reveals to Sam the fact that he lost a friend to suicide one year ago. After quietly relaying that fact to Patrick, he and Sam both decide then and there that Charlie should become a full-fledged member of their group. Moments later, Charlie bears witness to a romantic encounter between Patrick and his closeted boyfriend, star football player Brad (played by Johnny Simmons). They leave the party, go for a drive, and hear a song that inspires Sam to stand in the bed of the pickup truck and stretch out her arms as they drive through a tunnel. This is when Charlie first develops romantic feelings for Sam which she is completely unaware of. There’s a lot to like about this film. Miller and Watson’s characters are both very endearing and their decision to adopt fellow outcast Charlie is a moment that brings hope for the character and life in general. There are elements I believe the film could do without. Examples include the one-sided relationship between two of the characters and the references to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which never resonated with me the way it seems to with others. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it greatly and encourage others to see it at their earliest possible convenience.

    Moving coming-of-age story

I, like a lot of people, am a big fan of the book and I read it multiple times when I was a teenager. The film is very loyal to the book and Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, and Ezra Miller give outstanding performances. The film and the book capture perfectly how awkward and painful it can be being a teenager. The ultimate message of the story is that high school is only a stepping stone to where you're going and good friends can pull you through anything. It's an excellent film.

    Page to screen success story!

A story that touched the heart on the page was brought brilliantly to life on the screen. Each character in this rag-tag group is brought to life with care and love. It is impossible not to want to be a part of the group and run away to "the Island of Misfit Toys" along with them. Unlike so many movies of this genre the conclusion is not cookie-cutter, and cannot be seen by the second scene. It is in its honesty and genuiness that this movie succeeds. wo enthusiastic thumbs up.

Story was a wonderful story and I enjoyed it. The image quality was not great but I believe that was a style that the director wanted. I think the director was attempting to convey some level of mood but it is also possible it was a poor transfer. Regardless, it did not detract from my enjoyment of the movie.

The movie is great, my kids love it, even me and my husband watch it and enjoyed it. My youngest daughter was the one who requested to buy it, she invited some of her friends to come over and watch it. They enjoyed it very much that they have to play t back to watch again on the same night.

It's great that the writer of the novel was given the opportunity to write/direct the film adaptation. The extensive deleted scenes are worth watching, though because the Bonus Features are so good, you kinda hope that there is other material floating around for some sort of anniversary release down the line.

I remember reading the book back in high school and falling in love with the it immediately. The characters were so well written and by watching the movie it felt like they came alive like how I wanted them to. Amazing soundtrack accompanies the movie and I really recommend this movie regardless of whether or not you read the book.

This movie totally blew my mind. I was not distracted with anything else while watching this movie. Every character is well played, i love the music scenes and how invested these characters were. I will be re-watching this again tonight.
