The movie is great. The fact that it is not a 30th anniversary edition. It is a standard edition with a 30th anniversary picture stuck to the front of the standard movie case.

    Classic Movie Remastered for Blu-Ray!

Now, to be fair, I have been a fan of this movie for a very long time. I have purchased the VHS version, as well as any DVD release that has come out (hello to redundancy in special features and the sort). When I heard that this was coming to Blu-Ray, I immediately pre-ordered it. My opinions may be bias because of enjoying the movie too much, so I will try to keep it in perspective. Video Quality: 4/5 The Princess Bride is showing its age as far as production values go, but this shouldn't sway anyone from seeing this movie. The Blu-Ray version has been wonderfully remastered in 1080P. This is most noticeable with the color palette, as all the colors are vibrant. The picture is crisp, with the original film grain still in tact. You will notice the best quality during the scenes with the Dread Pirate Roberts on his quest to find the Princess. Overall, the picture looks nice for being 22 years old, a true testament to how good Blu-Ray can make any movie look. Audio Quality: 5/5 The soundtrack in it's TrueHD quality is great. Very clear and no signs of fuzz anywhere. The 5.1 audio track is truly 5.1 as every channel receives the correct sound and really enhances the quality of the movie experience. Extras: 3/5 As mentioned above, all the extras are on older discs. The documentary is great, and the commentary with Rob Reiner and William Goldman is interesting (if you're into that kind of thing). The Biggest extra, however, is the DVD version of the movie has been bundled with this Blu-Ray, allowing you to share the movie with anyone else. This is something that I have been waiting for Blu-Ray to do for a long time, and it's been mostly younger Disney Movies for now (Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty). HD-DVD was doing this the whole time, so it's nice to see Blu-Ray starting to do it more. Overall: 5/5 Buy this movie if you like romance. Buy this movie if you like comedy. Buy this movie if you enjoy romantic comedies. This is a must watch for anyone looking for an underrated movie for its time, but something that has withstood the test of time and has become one of the greatest romance stories ever. Take it from a guy who enjoys a good Chick Flick, I will be watching this again and again. The price is right, the quality is superb, and the experience will be remembered for all.

    Inconceiveable!

In 1987, a movie was released that captured audiences imaginations in every way possible. This movie had everything from romance to action to comedy as well as a most memorable cast of unique characters. This movie was The Princess Bride. Now, 20 years later, The Princess Bride is rereleased on a special edition 2-disc DVD set, and I must say it is worth every penny. It is loaded with not only the classic film but also a wealth of bonus features including documentaries, trailers, and even a trivia game on quotes from the movie. There's even a booklet called Fezzik's Guide to Florin, which humorously details and describes various points of interests from the movie. In addition to these bonuses, an eye for detail is given in creating the menus and the case. The menus are well-crafted and the cover is detailed with a beautiful portrait depicting the movie. Whether you're a longtime fan of this film or are just discovering it, there has never been a better time to purchase The Princess Bride for your DVD collection. Anybody want a peanut?

Best Non-Disney Fairy Tale Ever Made.

Having read about this movie on other sites, I decided, "Hey, this film is worth a shot." I also enjoy period, fantasy, romance and adventure films. A friend of mine bought the film for me and I can't stop repeating the lines. "As You Wish," Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die," "Inconcievable," etc. The performances are magnificent-from Cary Elwes (in his second movie) to Robin Wright (before she Married Sean Penn) and the rest of the cast. The movie manages to make fun of traditional fairy tales while not taking itself seriously. As Rob Reiner says in the all-new documentary "As You Wish: The Making Of The Princess Bride," it's a celebration of true love. The sword fight on the Cliffs Of Insanity is terrific and remeniscent of Errol Flynn swashbucklers. Of course, there is romance...and beautiful love scenes they are. With the film itself being free of any objectionable material, you might almost think that this is a Disney film. Well, it's not, but Walt Disney himself would be proud of this movie. Romance, adventure and comedy all in one spectacular movie. It's a chick flick. Recommended for girls' night out. Rated PG for mild adventure violence.

    The best movie ever made

This is the best movie ever made. Princess Bride is a romantic comedy that is nearly flawless and deffinetly a timeless classic. In terms of this genre it has a lot for a guy and a girl. It has action, suspense, romance, and a giant! If you have never seen this movie pick it up today, if you have seen this movie then you already know and should then pick up the special collector's edition. All in all a great movie to show a young one and for the avid movie collector.

    My all time fav

This movie/story/book has got to be one of my all time favs. To me its comfort food for the soul. My wife hates it though because I can watch it over and over, which I have. Sometimes I watch it to help me sleep. It puts me in a happy place and I seem to wake up refreshed and chipper. I can't wait to have kids so that I can share this movie/story/book with them. There's a Special Princess Edition of Princess Bride. Don't know if there is anything special about it, but my wife won't let me get it just yet. + If you like this one I also recommend Oscar with Sly Stalone. 5 yrs ago I had a hard time finding it on DVD and it was a rare find on VHS. Well some how I ended up with 3 copies on VHS which I have passed on and got it on DVD the first time I saw it online. It's a must see.

    Classic childhood movie.

If you're in your late 20's or 30's, then you remember this particular fantasy tale. It has all the right elements- swashbuckling, princesses, pirates, giants, monsters, ensemble cast. Even the format of the story-within-a-story with the grandfather telling his grandson a tale, will bring the kid out in anyone. Cary Elwes leads the cast but you'll also find veterans such Wallace Shawn and Billy Crystal in here. Also, current TV stars such as Robin Wright (House of Cards) and Mandy Patinkin (Homeland) round out the cast. It's a timeless children's movie that recalls a bygone era, before the advent of video games and the internet.

    wonderful & romantic fantasy

This is a wonderful fantasy film with contemporary overtones. A man (Peter Falk) reads the title story to his sick grandson (Fred Savage), which tells of a heroic farm boy (Cary Elwes) who is reunited with his true love (Robin Wright) after many years, only to contend with the machinations of the unloving prince (Chris Sarandon) she is being forced to marry. For those who don't like to read much, this film may change your mind on that.
