I was a big fan of this movie prior to watching in 4K. I asked one of the store sales reps which 4K movies he would recommend (as I purchased a 4K player). He recommended this movie along with a couple of others. Based on his personal recommendation, I purchased The Revenant on line from BestBuy.com. This movie is spectacular in 4K!

The Revenant, while a small story, is an incredible piece of filmmaking. Absolutely astounding performances from both Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy. You cannot go wrong with that pair. This also happens to be likely the finest looking 4K disc on the market. If you just got set up for 4K and want to really see what it can do, here's your disc. If you just happen to love truly great films, here's your disc.

Great movie. Looks better than my original DVD. This technology hobby is costing me a lot of money to keep re-buying movies I already had but needed to get them in the latest format (VHS, LaserDisc, DVD, HD-DVD, BLU-Ray DVD, Ultra 4K DVD, streaming services like Hulu, Amazon Prime, Netflix, AppleTV).

A journey through nature and survival without a lot of post special effects which astounds and amazes. It is true filmmaking at it's finest and a rare treat that isn't being done anymore in the industry, which is making use of natural settings and lighting vs. artificial ones. Everyone involved delivered fine work from acting, directing, crew, etc. and it shows...was well worth the price of IMAX admission and well worth buying on Blu-ray!

Kind of a haunting film. Dark and slow paced yet still engaging. Leonardo is great, not to mention the ever changing Tom Hardy. Movie takes it's time to lay out story and plot but visually stunning. One of the first (as I recollect) that is native 4k and it shows. Color is more accurate to the source, better detail as well. Highly recommended.

This doesnt show up on any top list for surround sound but its the best ive heard. The rears are constantly engaged with creaking trees, snow fall, and river currents. Obviously not all the whiz bang of an action movie but this really draws you into the atmosphere. Best scene is when the Captain goes upstairs to get money out of the safe. His foot steps travel around you and back to center. Great movie also.

Amazing early 1800's adventure film, not for the squeamish. Nominated for 12 Academy Awards! Amazing and truly frightening Grizzly bear (CGI) attack scene that has to be seen to be believed. Shot outdoors under natural light in adverse winter conditions. Best Actor Oscar rightfully goes to Leonardo DiCaprio, but Tom hardy (nominated for Best Supporting actor) is also Superb in his role. A MUST own film. My highest recommendation!

Great movie. Leonardo DiCaprio is amazing in this film. Very good tempo. The drama is on point and it delivers. The ending was satisfying and like I said, Leo out performs his other roles in this film. Must have a strong gut to watch some of the scenes but it’s worth it if you do!

“The Revenant” is an exciting film with a brilliant performance from Leonardo DiCaprio, as a trapper left for dead in wilderness and fighting his way for survival And if you have a 4K TV, it’s an essential purchase. It shows off everything your TV can do, with the beauty of the landscape pushing your set to it’s maximum abilities.

Another opportunity to add to my Steelbook collection! I remember going to the movies with my wife to see this one; she somehow thought it was a gentle movie about a bear in the wilderness (must have confused it with the "Yogi Bear" movie playing at the time!)! Boy, was she surprised when the violent attack scenes rolled!

This based on a true person. I am sure Hollywood had a great deal to add to make the movie, but WOW. What this person had to go through after the BEAR. You have to remember when this took place on the OLD FRONTIER. So he was a pretty tough cat. You will cringe and wonder, could I have done that. Any who, this is a great movie and worth getting.

The Revenant is a gruesome yet beautiful film about perseverance and the will to survive. The performances were amazing, the score fit the theme well, the cinematography was masterful, and the plot, especially the climax, was powerful. Had to upgrade to blu-ray at a great price.

Simply put this is a must see film. There is no weak performances in this picture Tom Hardy is perfect as the character you will love to hate, and of course DiCaprio delivers the painstaking performance of a lifetime. Do yourself a favor watch it once for the experience, then watch that one scene again with the sound down while listening to "I Had the Time of My Life" you'll know what I mean...Enjoy

Very good movie. It would have been nice to have had a little more character development and or a little more insight in regards to events prior to where the movie starts but then again I guess the movie would have been 5 hours long. Special effects where spot on. Very believable to a certain degree but man this guy goes through it. Don't want to spoil it so I am going to shut up now. Go see it. You won't be disappointed.

This movie had all the elements for an epic story of betrayal, hardship and all consuming revenge. The story is long and drawn out but has a strong story arc and develops the characters well. The cinema effects are highlighted by the use of 4k UHD HDR and the scenes really pop with this tech. Great movie, really enjoyed the quality of the storytelling and acting as well as great cinematography.

We love the tv, however, it is somewhat hard to navigate the smart feature's and how much they cost. We still don't know hoiw to use over 80 percent of the smart features. Also 4K programming is hardlt available with ou direct tv hook-up. An movies are at least $10-15 more than regular blue-ray, and our local video store does not carry them. Begiining to wonder if this 4k is a passing fad or not!!!

I did enjoy this movie but went in with too high of expectations. Winning an Oscar before I was able to view this movie set the bar high; too high. This didn't allow the movie to live up to the hype it received to me. All in all, it was a good movie that was shot really well. The movie used (almost all) natural lighting and practical effects (outside of mama bear) to make the experience feel that much more real. The story was compelling and gives a nice feel to the different time it takes place during. All in all this is a strong movie and I would recommend it. Just know that it shouldn't have been the movie Leo finally got his award for!

If you are any kind of Leonardo DiCaprio fan, this is a must watch and must have. This is the film that finally won him his Oscar after many years of falling short. The film itself is a work of art! In an age of Special Effects and CGI, this films uses minimal CGI and appreciates the beauty of nature herself. Tom Hardy also puts in one of this best roles to date in this survivalist film. Please ENJOY!!!!!!!

After upgrading to a 4K flat screen at a great price I was exited to know that some DVDs look very very good to the point of letting me decided which ones I really want in the 4K format at a later date. I must say that the photography and sound on this disk is mind blowing and looks like a huge upgrade ! Some copy's on new movies are not the best but this was hands down perfect without being 4K.

This movie reminds me of the movie Jeremiah Johnson, an old western, starting Robert Redford, in a sense that both movies depict a struggle for survival between men and the harsh environment of the Old West. The acting is superb. Leonardo DiCaprio, who earned his Oscar for Best Actor, proved that he can play an in-depth character. The landscape is absolutely beautiful. It's one of my favorite movies now.
