Not all movies are worth buying in 4k, but this one certainly is. A 4K pressing enables the viewer to fully appreciate the excellent controlled direction and especially the unreal soundtrack composed by Thomas Newman. He in particular deserves a retrospective Oscar for this groundbreaking work.

Ok, so there is a lot of bad language of course. This is a movie based on prison. However, this is in my opinion one the best movies I have seen! The story is great, great cast of actors and this story actually can relate to a lot of things that happens in our lives... I have stood in the rain with my arms stretched out after quitting a job, it feels like getting out of prison!!! A must watch!!!

Great Movie! This is one of my top favorites. It is very well done, but is not for younger children! The Blu-ray version provides nice crisp video. I think Blu-ray really shines on larger TVs where the pixel count is so high. Regular DVD video quality on a large TVs (50"+), is very noticeably lower. I recommend this movie in the Blu-ray version!

One of the best movies ever made. Near perfect filmmaking. All the performances are so captivating and gets you emotional. A feel good film if there ever was one. The 4K disc is a rock solid transfer. Beats the blu ray completely. The audio is as impressive as well. It delivers with authority. Packs a punch. A well made film that belongs in your collection.

The Shawshank Redemption is one of my favorite movies ever and this 4k rescan is outstanding. The movie was rescanned in 4k and the color was remastered making this film look frankly like a new movie. I dont need to say much more because everyone has seen this movie, if you are a fan this is the best way to see it and it will probably never look better.

This is the #1 rated movie of all time on IMDB.com. I was blown away by this movie the first time I saw it. I couldn't believe how inspirational it was! I only wish I had first seen it on a big screen at a theater to experience the full effect. If you haven't seen this movie and you are only going to buy one movie this year---make it this one! It's one of those movies you will want to watch again and again. Thank me later.

Slight upgrade in resolution compared to blu-ray but nothing like native 4k, the HDR was a nice touch and the sound is an improvement! This is my favorite movie of all times so any improvement is a reason/excuse to purchase a new copy and watch it again! I have seen this movie 100 times and I cry every single time... I love this movie!

I've purchased this movie in every format except laserdisc, dating back to VHS. This is clearly the best this movie has ever looked in the home viewing environment. Colors skew much more to the drab blue tones appropriate for a prison drama set in the 40's. If you are a fan of this movie, this is the best way to view it.

has a good moral. deals with corruption that goes on at the shawshank prison. its just as currupt as the outside world. this story is intense and has a great story. meets a cast of all kinds of interesting characters. i highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of stephen king or a good drama. this movie is the highest rated movie on imdb website highly recommend if you like the green mile you have to check out this title. you will love it start to finish and especially how it ends. lots of twist and puzzles keep you guessing.

Probably the greatest film of it's kind.! And viewing it in 4K makes it even better. If you are limited in cash but want to start your own 4K Ultra Blu-Ray collection than this title is highly recommended because you get your money's worth and the transfer and sound actually bring more life into this great classic movie.

Shawshank is one of those classic movies that is referenced in pop culture all the time. If you've never seen it, you need to. And having added it to my collection in 4k means I'll be able to enjoy this movie on today's huge screens way better than some old DVD. It's a must have for any movie collector.

One of my top favorite films of all time. And to have it on Steelbook and 4K is definitely a treat. The picture quality is exceptional and the Steelbook cover is well done. Will last a lifetime. I’m a huge fan of the Steelbook and although not all of them are perfect, they come close enough. Well done Best Buy.

I am a big Stephen King fan and this is one of my favorite movies. How can you not like this movie, with a really great cast. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman are phenomenal. If you enjoy this movie, you need to purchase this 4K version as it really improves on the quality over the previous blu-ray.

This is one of my all time favorites - top 5 ! I’ve seen it about ten times over the years since it was released and was super excited to see it released in 4K. Watched it again in 4K ….. Wow !! Picture was amazing and I was glad I purchased this 4K version. A classic great movie to have and watch again !

one of my all time favorite movies the combo of two incredible actors, Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins and a compelling story by Stephen King and masterful direction by Frank Darabont! 4k transfer is stunning especially the dark scenes…. it’s worth the money for the 4k and i love the Steelbook package

This is a must upgrade for anyone who loves this film. The colors feel more natural than on the standard blu ray so the HDR for this film is really noticeable. This is one of the best films ever so it is a must buy whether you previously owned this film on an older format or a first time purchase.

The Shawshank Redemption is one of the best films ever made. From the cinematography, directing, music, acting and everything in between is in top form. The 4k transfer is really great and is just a great release.

This is one of the best movies of all time. I lived in Mansfield, Ohio when this movie was filmed there. I remember seeing the vhs at Suncoast for $99.99 when the movie was released in theaters. This is a must see!
