Classic horror film. Kubrick classic as well. Steel is cool

This movie will scare the life out of you for sure!

I’m both deprived and spoiled when it comes to The Shining. For some reason I never saw this great classic growing up... saw it for the first time in 2020... on 4K. So I can’t speak to the quality upgrade over dvd or blu-Ray. However, let me tell you, it looked and sounded amazing. If you like The Shining. I would consider this a must own.

I saw the Shinning before and though the movie looked nice for it being old. In this 4K version I noticed the cinematography at its full potential. The shots in the beginning of the movie was so beautiful. It took me back to that time I felt I was in the 80’s. Then when theirs close up shot of the actors there’s good detail on their faces from hair to pores and texture of their clothing! Now this movie is old and was shot on film so you will see grain but I’m telling you it looks good! I recommend it because this is the best that it’s going to look and there’s good detail. Nothing to exaggerate about but you should invest in this edition if you want to see it the way it should have been seen along time ago!

This really is a must own 4K UHD-BR for collectors! It is way, way, way, way, way better than the 2007 Blu-Ray. 'The Shining' wasn't one of my favorite films, but it is an excellent to see in 4K. I could re-watch it for the HDR 10+ alone. Sounds awesome also. Warner did a FANTASTIC job with this catalog release!

From the moment it was announced, I knew that I wanted to have THE SHINNING in 4K. I always want to add my favorite movies on physical form and Best Buy has great SteelBooks. They outdid themselves this time. The design of the box is fantastic, using not one but two motifs from the film. As for the movie, a true classic, not just horror, but on film.

Watching this 4K version of The Shining was almost like watching it for the first time. Details are extraordinarily crisp, to the extend that you can see lose threads on Danny's jacket in close up, and the fine details Kubrick excruciated over can be appreciated in a way that likely haven't since it's original theatrical release. Highly recommended.

Stanley Kubrick tackles the Horror Genre in this psychological thriller from 1980. This was adapted from the Stephen King novel & in my humble opinion, I believe that the movie is superior. It looks & sounds great in both Blu-ray & 4k! If you're a fan of Stephen King, Stanley Kubrick, or Horror of any kind, you'll love this one!

This steelbook is awesome and the movie is awesome

Is insanity contagious? "Here's Johnny" and "Redrum" are the classic lines in this 1980 gothic horror film where a writer (Jack Nicholson), wanting solitude to end his writer's block, takes his family to an isolated hotel that is closed for the winter as caretakers. What he finds is a ghostly time warp and murder hatched right out of the mind of Stephen King. A classic for every Halloween viewing.

I did not see The Shining until a few years ago. But, since then I have seen it many, many times and it has became one of my top 5 horror movies if not movies in general of all time! Jack Nicholson and cast did a wonderful job on this. I do not get tired of watching it. If you haven't seen this great film do yourself a favor and buy it! You will not be disappointed!

This may be one of the best 4K restorations of the year. Stanley Kubrick's classic looks great. It has a 5.1 audio track, not Dolby Atmos. Still, it delivers the goods. I've seen this film several times and it felt like I was seeing it for the first time, anticipating what was coming next. What an experience.

One of my all time favorite horror movies. Yes, it's wildly different from the novel, Stephen King hated it, etc etc. BUT it stands alone in its own right as an incredible cinematic experience. I love it.

The Shining really... *puts on sunglasses* shines in 4K. I just started collecting steel books and had to add this. The steelbook made it to me in pristine condition and Best Buy also price matched, no questions asked when this went on sale a week after I bought it. Really happy with this purchase all around.

While it deviates significantly from the novel, I think this version is how to do a haunted story. It's not overt or obvious. It builds to it's unavoidable conclusion slowly. The Overlook became more powerful the longer Danny and Jack were there, until the end when it could manifest to the non-shining Wendy

'The Shining' is a cinematic gem! A simple story of a family in isolation proves to be anything but simple, as it reveals a deeper mystery and richness that begs the viewer to return again and again! Jack Nicholson's portrayal of a man's descent into madness, and Stanley Kubrick's signature direction made 'The Shining' the masterpiece that we've come know! Highly Recommended!

This movie is the best then and now. I’ve stayed at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park for the true enjoyment of the fright and watched the movie of course there!! It is still the best movie!!!! Did I mention I Loved this movie??? You know this was so well acted that she was traumatized making the movie in the door scene..”here’s Johnny”!!

Probably the best adaptation from a Stephen King novel ever made! I say adaptation because it alters a lot from the novel, but in the best possible way Kubrick knew how! Great performances all around from such a small cast. Cinematography and score help set the tone for this eerie thriller. Recommended highly! Just don’t go in Room 237!

This gorgeous 4K transfer for the Blu-Ray version is probably the best the film has ever looked. I do wish they had ported over the Theatrical Trailer from previous releases, but I suppose it's not that big of a deal. Also, there is a manufacturing error in this edition. In the scene where Wendy tells Jack they need to leave and Danny has a vision of the elevator of blood in the 2nd half of the film, there is some noticeable picture distortion. I thought I'd had a defective copy, but sadly it was the how they made the Blu-Ray. Bummer. But otherwise, this is a MUST OWN!
