The Shining is one of the best films ever made. What at once seems like a "ghost movie" is a deeper dive into an abusive husband who is molesting his child. This is Kubrick at his finest and vastly deeper than what it appears at first to be. In the top five of all time, and it gets a great steelbook!

I enjoy reading sci-fi, fantasy and horror; and, I enjoy reading Steven King. However, not all books make it to movies in one piece. This is when you'll see on the screen: "Based on a book by Steven King," or whomever. "The Shining" is a movie based on a Steven King book. I thought that the book was very well written and frightening; however, a lot of Steven King's book didn't make it to the screen; but, the movie was good in its own right. If you have never read Steven King's book, this movie will be excellent (5 out of 5 stars); however, if you have read Steven King's book, the movie will be good (3 out of 5 stars).

If you haven't seen this on 4k then you are missing out. I have over a 1k movies and this movie on 4k is probably in the top 3 . This will blow your mind. And the steelbook pays tribute to the original Cover art so if you can still buy this it's the best way to go for the shining on 4k

Great UHD transfer and excellent blu-ray. Warner Bros again does a good job with it ‘s transfers and audio. This is Jack Nicholson at his best. The movie stays true to Steven King’s novel by the same name. See before Doctor Sleep. Got it for under $10, what a great deal.

Oh come such a classic. Sure this does not match to the novel but the idea here is that this is Stanley Kubrick vision and the 4k transfer looks great! Definitely can tell it's not from our time but looks even better than most modern 4k movies.

This one of the best, maybe the best, horror thriller movies of all time. Nobody but Jack Nicholson could have played the lead role in this movie. The character he plays is even named Jack. If your a fan of Jack Nicholson & by some faint chance haven't seen this movie or if your a fan of this movie & have had it for years on DVD, this Blu-Ray transfer is a definite, must have upgrade!

Incredible 4K disc here with beautiful restoration work, this one will look like it was just filmed yesterday. Rarely does a studio go out of their way to do such a great job on restoring a film properly but this is one of the few that is done well the first time.

Not gonna write a review for the movie because who cares. You’re here for a reason. The 4K remaster looks amazing. There are some shots that look almost new. I also really enjoyed the special features on this set. I owned Shining on blu-ray and I’m glad I upgraded.

This is definitely one of my best experiences watching a movie. The way Stanley Kubrick builds suspense and how he positions the camera. The movie is amazing and dark and not quite like the book that Stephen King wrote at all. But, it's still one of Kubrick's memorable movies and as well for the rest of the cast.

The Shining never looked better. The restoration for this 4k spearheaded by Kubrick archivist Leon Vitali looks and sounds phenomenal. Sadly the special features have all been featured on Blu ray or DVD previously, but at least they are included here, making is a comprehensive disc.

This is a fantastic movie if you are a Stephen King fan or just a general movie fan. Its a fascinating world and the 4k re-release is worth it. The colors are a lot better than the standard blu-ray. Plus, this collectors case is really cool to look at if you collect steelbook.

It is well known that the writer of The Shining Stephen King detested Stanley Kubrick's adaption of this novel. The novel focused on the evilness of the hotel and the main character's struggle to overcome his own personal issues and the hotel's presence. In the movie the focus is more on the main character's descent into madness with the help of the hotel. Both the book and movie are equally successful in their different approach. Very seldom will a movie depart from the source material and be so successful. I watched the original when it was released in 1977 and still enjoyed it on blu-ray. It ages very well.

I don’t have an OLED or Dolby vision TV but this movie still shines in a new light there are many points that looked like it was filmed I the 2000s cools are popping and the image is sharp and clear. the audio isn’t Dolby atoms however it does not distract from the ambience.

This movie is just weird. Cult classic so added to collection but it’s not as great as many say in my humble opinion. The book was so much better. If here was a maybe recommend I would pick that.

Any person that claims to be a fan of cinema better have this film in their collection, and if you’re gonna have it then 4K is a must. Stanley Kubrick shot this movie so gorgeously that it deserves to be seen in the highest definition available.

Worth buying if you love this movie, due to being much sharper which lets you see some little things you might have not in 1080P ... But if you own the regular Blu-ray there is no need to purchase this 4k version, unless you are a true Shinning Fan.

Kubrick paired with Stephen King...a no brainer...must see. Methodical as King and Kubrick are in their respective art forms taking a classic tale and making it fit on the silver screen. Own it in Steelbook form today and relive this tale in 4K glorious ness.

I have seen The Shining several times prior to purchasing the movie and I do not regret the purchase one bit. This is one of the great classic horror films and never gets old. Jack Nicholson does an amazing job on screen (as always) and the movie gives me chills each and every time I see it. Any fan of horror movies must own this!

I’ve never thought of The Shining as a horror/monster movie...more of a suspenseful/edge of ur seat kinda thriller to me. Great scenery and acting. I feel bad for Olive Oil most of the film-but the girl gets on my last nerve asking non stop questions (about everything) at the beginning.

The Shining is one of the horror genre's most notable films. Made in 1980 by the late, legendary Stanley Kubrick, the film stands out as not only one of his best but probably the best Stephen King adaptation as well. Though not nearly as true to the book as the later TV-movie would be, it is undoubtedly darker, more macabre, and ultimately superior to that version. Kubrick was a genius behind the camera, giving us long, beautiful shots, allowing us to take in both the beauty and the horror of the Overlook Hotel. For those who have yet to see the movie (and honestly, who hasn't at this point?), do yourself a favor and buy it today! Disappointment is impossible.
