This is one of my favorite movies although the book is better. I know everyone always says that but the book really does have the perfect ending and this movie changed it. I still love the movie now and it looks great and sounds great in 4k.

Great Black Friday price but shipped in soft plastic envelope. This allows damage to the movie, especially if it’s a steel book. Need to ship in a box with proper packing materials.

Fantastic Image quality of this 4k release. Truly impressed and the commentary is really good too. I watched this on my OLED and the HDR looked really great. There is a little bit of film grain, but that is part of the film.

Great movie for a Stephen King novel. More of a thriller with a few elements of supernatural entities going on. It's more about the madness brought on by isolation and cabin fever even in the face of luxuries at the hotel. A must see for any halloween movie list. Nicholson shines in his heyday of good roles and acting roles...

If this isn't the best movie ever I'm not sure I've been watching movies. 4K release in this beautiful packaging gives this classic the treatment it always deserved. Packed with special features that are worth the buy alone.

The long camera dolly across the Gold Room into a tight focus upon the framed wall photo, resonating with the tones of Ray Noble's 1934 recording of Midnight The Stars And You says it all. Too little has been written about Shelley Duvall's appearance in this movie. It was her last good one. Stanley Kubrick wrecked her career (and some say her mind) on this project, but in the process inspired a stunning performance from Duvall not seen before or since. She has a kind and gentle heart and ought not have exposed herself to Kubrick's madness. As always Nicholson excells as the caretaker of his own private asylum.

This movie has been one of my favorites since I was a teen. The 4k version is remarkably sharp, yet the image hasn't been digitally scrubbed of its natural grain. Colors are poignant. It's like experiencing the movie for the first time again.

Incredible looking and sounding release. I've owned this film on almost every home format it's been released on, and this is by far the best. Worthy upgrade if you own any of the previous releases and have the means to watch 4k releases.

I love this movie... I purchased it again because the one I had started playing blurred. If you are a movie buff like me you cannot have a movie collection without this movie. Jack is OUTSTANDING as is the rest of the characters. This movie was well before its time and still outshines alot of scary and drama movies made today.

The Shining has never looked better. Whether you've seen the film countless times, or have come to it recently thanks to recent movies like Doctor Sleep or the documentary Room 237, the film shines like it never has before.

This 4k version is well worth the upgrade from the Blu ray. Hard to believe a movie 40+ years old looks this good. The sound is great is well.

Fantastic film. Terror and suspense in all the right places. The bluray transfer is perfect and the 4K is just as great if not better! Stanley Kubrik is a definite genius as the film holds up years later.

"Come and play with us Danny...forever...and ever..and ever. I've waited to hear this classic line from the little creepy girls in this flick for a long time. The acting of Shelley Duvall and Jack Nicolson and the late Scatman Crothers is legendary! I'm thankful Best Buy had this movie available and on sell!

Stanley Kubrick’s classic horror hotel film The Shining is a new experience with 4K video. The HDR and Dolby Vision brings amazing, vivid colors and deeper blacks which brings new life to this film. Highlights are the bright reds and detail at night in the maze against the white snow. Details in the hotel are also much improved. The only item that should have been improved to honor the picture quality would have been to upgrade the audio to Dolby Atmos or DTS-X.

The Shining is such a classic horror story, brought to life by on-point casting, acting & of course the eerie story line of a family tormented by unseen forces, secluded in a massive hotel far from human contact, during a fierce winter. A must have for any fan of horror, at a price that can't be beat.

There’s only so much you can really advance the quality of a movie from this era, but the conversion to 4K is well done. Happy to have it apart of my collection! A classic Stephen King horror flick.

This steelbook is a must have for all horror movie fanatics! It is a matte finish with awesome artwork inside and out. However, there is no digital code included. This movie is a classic favorite of mine and if you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend!

Not Kubrick's Best, But the 4K is Beautiful

I should start by saying I'm a lifelong Kubrick devotee of the highest order, and I don't think he's ever made a truly poor film. However, I'll give one caveat: "The Shining" isn't nearly his best film. I hadn't seen it in years, but I purchased the 4K disc because I'm a Kubrick collector. Viewing it, the film still isn't as great as his other works, and much of it doesn't hold up. However, the 4K presentation looks beautiful.
