First of all, this is not your fancy graphic anime; its approach is like old fashion artwork. I wasn't sure what I was getting into at first, since the trailer is useless in my opinion, but bit by bit I was drawn in by the story. Basically in short, the plot emphasize on the love people can have for each other. The movie demonstrates traditional Japanese culture in a very interesting matter and may "bore" some viewers if they're not into that. This was more like a folklore tale being told which I didn't mind. There are a few things that don't add up for me but that's for debate. Overall I did enjoy it and would consider this on my "relaxing" anime category.

It's good story, and old Japanese fairytale. But because it is a Japanese ancient fairytale, unless you have a fair idea of the Japanese culture and history, you'll probably either shaking your head all the time, or simply be uninterested and turn the movie off. However, if you know basic plot of this story, and know the Japanese cultural history, you'll find this movie quite interesting. I took one star off for being too long, where some parts of the story just seems to drag a bit too much, and kind of stops the flow of the story, I thought.

Done in old style animation, if you like the retro anime that began the large interest into japan's culture, this will be a good addition to anyone's collection. I dont think this is right for small children due to the themes presented. I would not recommend this as a first entrance to anime, but if you regularly watch anime, this is good. Not their best film, but definitely better than some. A good rule of thumb is Ghibli doesn't throw out garbage.

A uniquely animated film from Studio Ghibli. It tries to capture movement loosely to great effect. While not as tightly animated as something like the studio's The Wind Rises, it has its own charms even though it is probably geared more toward a younger audience. Still interesting to see an old folk tale from a different culture than my own brought to life in this unique manner.

This movie can put me to sleep or does it just allow me to hit the reverie vibe that I so enjoy. The song towards the end about Life is awesome. This movie has many layers to it and appeals to a wide audience. I enjoyed this and was happy to have seen it at the movies!

The animation is not to my liking although I realize its intended to imitate classic Japanese art style. I prefer the usual Ghibli style, but aside from that its a well done telling of a classic Japanese tale. Simple and elegant, if you appreciate gradually paced sentimental films you will probably like it.

The story and animation are all wonderfully executed. The different art style with its brushes look really pops as you watch this film. In addition, this re-telling of an old Japanese story is so well told that you will lose yourself within minutes. Don't miss this film or you will regret it.

As per usual the quality and sound of this Blu-ray was outstanding. In summation, A magical Japanese folktale about growing up, parenting, and the mistakes we all make in upbringing.

The animation style could have been better. This is the story of the Bamboo Princess, or Moon Princess, depending on where you first heard the tale. It follows the bamboo cutter's life and the mysterious girl's rapid growth and rise of popularity in the royal court.

Visually striking, vastly different from typical Ghibli affair brought down by dated material. No matter how much spin director tried to apply it doesn't change the fact that is old tale. In that aspect reminds me of John Carter. For diehard fans of Ghibli only.

This film showcases Isao Takahata's skills as a master filmmaker, just as The Wind Rises did for Miyazaki. It runs a little long and is overly sentimental in some areas, but is recommended viewing for any fans of Studio Ghibli.

Honestly I enjoyed this film, the only issue I could really say is that at times it felt a bit trippy to me, it has gained a nickname in my household. The Tale of Princess Moonbaby.

The Tale of Princess Kaguya shows the intricacies of royal Japanese life, and the lengths some people are willing to go, in order to find what they feel is an ideal life.

Had been looking forward to this for a while. The animation is unique and the movie is pretty good, but more so towards the end.

The ink brush art style is a departure from Studio Ghibli usual style, and grows more complex as the movie goes on, and just adds to the charm of everyone and everything.

The film is a nice film, but I prefer the artistic style of Hayao Miyazaki which is sharper. I am fascinated by Japanese stories-- this is a good one.

Amazing example of Animation as artwork. Beautiful use of animation to tell the story.

Good watch and good price for the purchase, buy if you find it

This is an excellent animated movie from Studio Ghibli, but don't expect it to be the same style as those by Miyazaki.

Amazing animation as always, story was a bit slow for my taste but good over all.
