This 1974 classic from Tobe Hooper is nothing short of sensational. With its documentary-esque photography and nerve-wracking moments, this is, in some ways, the ultimate horror film. Like Psycho & The Silence of the Lambs, this film is partially based on the real life exploits of murderer Ed Gein. Five friends (a girl, her boyfriend, her best friend, her brother, and her best friend's boyfriend) go into a graveyard in Texas to confirm that an acquaintance's grave hasn't been disturbed, following reports of grave robbing in the area. Needless to say, they don't leave quickly enough as they encounter a family of wackos who have them in mind for their next meal. The climax (which reinforces the notion that shooting dinner scenes is hard on actors) will have the viewer on the edge of their seats.

I was supremely impressed with this blu ray! If you are a Horror fan, this is definitely a must own! The picture at some times seems slightly grainy, but I'm site this is due to the age of the film. Personally, when it comes to blu ray, I appreciate the quality of video, but I favor the sound quality. This film definitely does not disappoint in that standard. Being in 7.1 HD audio, is a top pick for me with blu ray films. The sound on this is truly incredible! The way the sound surrounds you from speaker to speaker is amazing! Definitely one I will continue to watch repeatedly!

This version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has it all. This is a must see movie for any horror movie fan. It was incredibly well filmed film. The cinematography is brilliant. Tobe Hooper did an Amazing job with this movie and little budget. Just a superb film that stands up too time and squashes the remakes. The Dvd you are buying here is crisp and has so many bonus features. You are definately going too love this movie.

Based on events inspired by the serial killer Ed Gein, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is truly the most disturbing film in all of movie history. Not a true story itself but ideas from the gruesome real life man known by Ed Gein, a man who used to wear his victims skin after brutally killing them. This movie is shocking, great acting by all. This movie will disturb you and entertain you if horror is your thing. Not for the faint of heart or youngsters. All others...Watch this!

The ultimate version of an ultimate movie. The movie is so good that it's been banned in many contries like UK for years. Unlike many modern horrors that show tons of gore, and horrible scenes this movie doesn't have much blood or scenes of dismemberment, etc. But it's the scariest movie I've ever seen and it is usually a challenge for me to find something scary. And this is an ultimate edition - steelbox, 2 disc, tons of extra features... A must have for any horror fan.

This is horror at its finest. I really got a kick out of this movie and found it surprisingly well made. Best Buy had a good price on it and I am glad that I added it to my collection. You won't find a reference quality picture here but this edition is the best this movie has ever looked, and the way it does look is vital to the whole experience anyway.

I finally got around to seeing this movie for the first time recently, and I was not disappointed. It's creepy and brilliantly made. The 2-disc DVD's main special features are two 90-minute documentaries -- both of which are worthwhile for fans of the film. Highly recommended.

One of the best horror movies out there definitely recommend

Essential viewing for a horror aficionado! After a 4K restoration, TCM looks and sounds as good as it ever will. Although this release features only the film and four commentaries, the larger set doesn't seem to have much (if anything) that didn't already appear in a prior version.

Great movie deserves a great steelbook totally recommend

Lets leatherface it, this is a classic horror movie. Disturbed?...yes. Disturbing?...ok. But its a classic none the less...and now its disturbing in HD.

Very well done. Great collector's edition. I would have given it 5 stars if it was in blu ray sized packaging, but it is dvd sized.
