    I am a huge fan of The Thing and was waiting for the 4K release but in the end, do not waste your money. This is a very poor port and people saying that the picture is "fantastic!" has not watched many 4K movies. Heck, even John Carpenters They Live is so much better than this transfer, at least it has Dolby Atmos. The thing still has DTS the same old audio from the blu-ray version. If you have the blu-ray save your money, hopefully another re-release will come out sooner rather than later.

    I wish the original 4.1 audio release were on this. The Atmos mix is thin and the sound effects drown out the score. Wish this were definitive. Alas.

    An all time horror classic with a solid visual upgrade. The only weak point in the audio which is only ok. A good all around package.

    I wish I could say that I loved this, but the remake is just not as good as the 50's original. Carpenter tips his hand far too soon as to the nature of the monster so the tension of building mystery and horror are completely lost. But the ultra 4k is great, so I gave it a 3 as a whole.

    The disk came damaged and glitchy, and Best Buy refused to return or exchange. Not great!
