The blu ray version looks great! They cleaned the film frame by frame and did some color correction to Hot Rod so he looks the way he is supposed to. They say you can see details that were not picked up during original film projection. This is described in the bonus area about the restoration process and conversion to 4k. Apparently it was originally made in 6k, so 4k was no trouble at all! It definitely takes me back to seeing it in the theater. While I think Hasbro and the writers should have made some different choices, the first 30 minutes are amazing, and the ending as well. If you ask me, Optimus Prime should have lived and simply been repaired and upgraded to become Ultra Magnus. Hot Rod becoming Rodimus was cool, but Rodimus looks like a futuristic Winnebago, that should have been a cooler design. They killed off the original autobot line to sell us Arcee and Springer-- not cool. Also the junk planet and sharkticon planet scenes were just weird. But the new decepticons were cool, Cyclonus and Galvatron. So they killed the entire line and we only got 4 cool characters, Hot Rod, Blur, Cyclonus, and Galvatron. Scourge is a hovercraft? Might come in handy when huntin' for gators. Else it looks weird flying in space. But the action, art, and animation are awesome. I miss hand drawn and will always like it better than computer animation. I liked that the movie was dark and appreciate it more as an adult. But it could have been even better. Also, you definitely do get a digital version when you buy the blu ray. It works with iTunes, PC, and Mac. Someone on here said you don't but he is mistaken.

This movie rocks! The animated movie follows the classic TV series of the same name and features all the great characters longtime transformers fans know and love. In this movie, the Decepticons have conquered Cybertron and a new menace named Unicron lurks on the horizon. Transformers; The Movie features some brilliantly animated and exciting actions scenes with more Transformers than you can shake an Energon cube at. The pulse-pounding rock score makes the action even more exciting. Watching this movie once is not enough (I've lost track of how many times I've seen it). Unlike the live action movie, which I am a big fan of, this one features more of that Transformers themselves than Human characters. If you have a favorite character from the TV series, he's probably in this movie. The voice cast features Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, who played also played PRime in the live action movie. Other cast highlights include Leonard Nimoy, Eric Idle and Orsson Welles in his final big screen performance. The action is fast and intense, and may be a little too intense for some children. If you plan to buy this for a child, I'd recommend watching it yourself first, then decide. Essential for any Transformers fan!

I grew up watching this cartoon series. It was the greatest. It nevers gets old you will watch it over and over again. This is a great movie and has good special features. What is not to love about the Autobots and the Decepticons and their battles. Vehicles transforming into to fighting robots how sweet is that. This is the cartoon that inspired the movie that just came out recently. This movie is definately worth the purchase you will love it

Transformers The Movie was the movie to own growing up in the 80's. Seeing it again today brings back the joy of being a kid, if you loved it when you were younger then pick it up. Video is offered in 1:33:1 window boxed or 1:75:1 matte 16:9 widescreen. The widescreen version does take image off the top and bottom to create the 16:9 image. Audio is presented in Dts HDMA 5.1 and 2.0.

The 30th Anniversary edition is visually MUCH better than the original version AND the 20th Anniversary edition. They actually went in and cleaned up the art, adding details and line-work viewers could never have appreciated in the 1980's, even in theaters. The sound is a little better. You get 2 DRM-free digital copies with purchase (720p and 1080p).

When I first started hearing about this movie,I had to get it.I'm a huge Transformers fan,and also like the music,and the best song,"Dare",by Stan Bush. And another fact,it came out after season 2,and after watching it,season 3.So,if you like this movie,then get it.You'll see what I mean.

Really enjoyed watching this movie again. Brought back memories of my childhood. Loved the typical 80s music from this soundtrack. The bonus features with the interviews with the writers were especially interesting. Their motivation for killing of characters just so they could introduce the new toy lines was funny to me because of the reaction from fans it caused.

Take one of the most influential 80's Cartoon and bring to the big screen as a bridge between seasons and you have Transformers the movie. To see a film like this restored to a glorious working print and a nice selection of special features new and old plus Steelbook packaging makes this a must own for Transformer fans.

If you are Transformers fan this is a must. The 4K quality makes this already awesome film 1000 times better. The Autobots and Decepticons never looked so good!

This movie blew my mind as an 11-year old when it first came out! It was very shocking to see so many beloved characters killed off in the first act.

This is a classic brought to us on Blu-ray with a beautiful SteelBook. If you love Transformers, this is a must buy! Yes, the video could be a little better, but you won't be disappointed replacing your DVD, or god forbid VHS copy.

For anyone who grew up with Transformers in the 80's and were hungry for it again (despite the M.Bay disappointments), this is it! TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE in Blu Ray!! The best of the best picture quality in surround sound! LOVE IT!!!

This is such a cult classic. They did a really good job on the 4k transfer and it has never looked better. Awesome!

Bought this for my boyfriends birthday...he loved it! Steelbook looks great and he loved that its finally on blu ray. The extra features are a great bonus. Awesome buy!

I really enjoyed the fight between Prime and Megatron!! Watching Prime die was also a good thrill. But why does this movie feel so short. It's two hours long but still short. How did that happen!
