Quite a bit more bloody than I expected. Was thinking to share the series with my girlfriend, but after viewing the first few episodes I changed my mind. Way too bloody gory. Good for not the faint of heart.

Bought seasons 1-6 and only season 1 hadn't been re-wrapped to be sold after being returned. There were finger prints on half the disc. And season 6 had 2 scratched disc so I traded in at a local store to only get another re-wrapped copy and it had a scratched disc, it wasn't horrible so I decided to keep it but will not be a return customer. If they are going to resale returns then they need to knock off a few bucks and label them "like new"

I might as well have bought the DVD and saved some money. Ridiculous amount of film grain. Some parts of the show are also laugh out loud stupid.

This series had probably the best planned season premiere by launching on Halloween (IMHO this is when all horror genre films and series should premiere) on the AMC cable network. The show is based on comic book (graphic novel) and follows the story of a group of survivors of a viral apocolypse that turned friends, family, neighbors, etc. into zombies. The story takes place (and from what I understand is actually filmed on location) in Atlanta, GA, and because it is on cable they can push the envelope with regards to content and graphic nature of the story (so it may not be to everyone's taste). The only downfall of this first season is that there are only 6 episodes. However, the series was quickly renewed for another season and word is there will be 13 episodes. On my cable provider (Comcast) subscribers also had access to bonus content (behind the scenes, makeup...). Season 2 is scheduled to premiere October 2011 during AMC's Fearfest (just like Season 1 launched). Episodes: 1- Days Gone By 2-Guts 3-Tell It To the Frogs 4-Vatos 5-Wildfire 6-TS-19 Bonus Features (per another source): Extra Footage and Featurettes including The Making Of THE WALKING DEAD Inside THE WALKING DEAD Episodes 1-6 A Sneak Peek with Robert Kirkman Behind the Scenes Zombie Make-Up Tips Convention Panel with Producers THE WALKING DEAD Trailer

    AWESOME SERIES

Not reviewing the DVD/Blu-Ray on this review but if you have NOT seen this series on AMC, then you missed out on one of the best zombie movies/shows of all time. I thought the progression from episode 1 through the season ending was fantastic with how they not only approached the zombie apocalypse but also the human side of how people would be if this were to happen. The acting was good for what they had to spend it on and they really drag you into the plot. As for the "make-up", TOP NOTCH. I didn't think I would see that much blood or violence outside of the movies. I can't wait for season two, which if I am correct is about 15 episodes. Can't wait to see what will happen between the two sheriffs, where they are going to head out to, the father/son that he first met and as anyone who watches a ton of horror/zombie flicks, <SPOILER POSSIBLE> wonders when and how they will bump into the guy they left on the side of the road to turn into a zombie. Did he shot himself or fully turn, I can't wait to find out. See you all on the Zombie Side and will be picking this up on day one of its release. As to the "DVD Extras", can't comment so giving it an average.

    The BEST Show!

Robert Kirkman sure did shake the industry with his excellent graphic novels and executing it perfectly to a TV show, make that two TV shows! I love how there's nothing tacky or phony about it, it feels so dark and serious which i love! 2 guns up for Robert Kirkman and pulling off the "infected/dead/zombie" genre, i hope it lasts as long as it can! When is the last time you cried during a zombie movie? Honestly, AMC's new series "The Walking Dead" (based upon the successful cultish graphic novel series) is, after Breaking Bad and Mad Men, their third show poised to be a remarkable and heavily awarded television series. Graphic in its gore content and violence, the pilot nonetheless presented a plausible and terrifying "end of the world" tale that is surprisingly personal with moments of great poignancy. The central character, Georgia Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes, is shot nearly fatally spending a long (unknown) amount of time lying in a coma, awakening from it and, barefoot and clad only in his hospital gown, stumbles through and emerges out of the hospital to discover a world devastated by some mysterious catylcismic event; a world nearly devoid of life. Once again a fairly unknown British actor takes the lead in an American television series, but having watched Andrew Lincoln as Rick in this series, I fully believe the guy was made for the role (or the other way 'round). For nearly 70 minutes, Lincoln's Rick is mostly on his own, but his face - a magnificent mirror registering every emotion from self doubt, fear, grief, utter despair but also the hope of finding his wife and boy. Lincoln's is a tremendous performance of made all the more remarkable considering the genre and thus a rare opportunity for subtlety and introspection. Rick's interactions with another father and son who capture, but ultimately rescue and aid his return to health, has a deep resonance in a world where men are considered stulted in understanding or expressing their emotions (a topic which is introduced nicely in the shows opening scene with Rick and fellow officer Shane Walsh (Jon Bernthal). If you love zombies (and who doesn't?) this new series is a must see. I honestly was blown away after the premiere, powerfully moved and properly scared to death! Keep it coming Robert Kirkman!

If you love this amazing, authentic show AMC has created and really want to own the first season then spend the extra $ & get this set. Despite the fact it's only 6 episodes long (as the show was in its infancy and not given the green light to produce 13+), it has tons of bonus features worth the purchase if you're a hardcore fan. Such as behind the scenes and a cool feature of the zombie make-up. As a consumer though I wouldn't spend more than the price I got it at, being $25, as it's not worth the normal, non-sale price of $50. So get it while it's on sale! Hopefully AMC will include 'The Talking Dead' episodes on the box set of season 2! ; )

This show is downright awesome. If you haven't seen it yet, watch it. You'll be hooked from episode one. It almost feels more like a movie than a show. Very well written and pulls you into it..nervewracking goodness :) The only downside is that the season is short. Disappointing that we must wait so long for it to return, but I'm very excited to see where they take the storyline next.

Being a big zombie fan, I was thrilled when this series aired on AMC. It was a bit disappointing that we only had 6 episodes, but season 2 is supposed to have 13. The bluray is a bit grainy in certain places, but overall it's alright, i've seen better clairity on alot of older films though, so there's no excuse for them to lag behind on the picture qualtiy.

grew up loving zombie movies as a kid (night of the living dead, return of the living dead, etc. etc.). when this show started getting promoted I was hooked before the first episode, thankfully the series did not disappoint. Have not missed a single episode since the premier. If you jumped on board late you definitely need to catch up from the beginning. its about so much more than zombies. even my wife got hooked and she's more into comedies.
