This movie surprised me because it goes as if magic and witches are real which historically is not the case in new england. Very well put together

Visually stunning tour de force that feels like a mash up of Ingmar Bergman’s The Virgin Spring and The Seventh Seal crashing head on into the classic Hammer horrors of ye olde days. Spectacular acting from all the cast combined with a perfectionist attention to detail (bringing to mind Kubrick) brews a heady slow burn of horror from a time when people really believed in witches!

Down right disturbing at moments,quaint at others, one part The Thing and one part the scarlet letter. Great cinematography and makeup effects.

Freaky movie. . . Great value with digital copy and would recommend for Mystery/Horror Buffs.

Robert Eggers, directorial debut, is astonishing in it's perfection. You get a perfect cast, adults and children, who make you feel as if your watching something that really happened. Costumes & sets that look authentic, only add more intensity to the eerie sense of doom that fills every frame of this masterpiece. Watch alone and late in the night to really get the full effect.

Got this on Black Friday for 3.99- Havent seen it yet, but I like horror movies and period pieces. Cost of the rental, so I bought it!

I liked this movie a lot. Mostly because it was original. Not a remake of a classic or anything like that *cough* ghostbusters 2016 *cough* It wasn't the scariest witch movie or horror movie I've ever seen, but it has some creepy moments. I've noticed you either like this movie or think it's weird. So buyer beware I guess. If you like period pieces and horror, this is for you.

I love it that this movie is based on historical events - court transcripts, personal diaries, etc. Suspenseful throughout - worth watching.

One of the best horror movies this year! First time director Robert Eggers delivers a fresh and haunting tale on witch craft and possession in early America.

The story is well written, it’s just hard to understand what they are saying since it’s old English and blue ray makes the voices low.

Kind of creepy, kind of slow moving in parts, I thought. But not bad...keep hoping for the next great horror movie that hasn't shown up yet.

I was pleasantly & completely surprised at how good this movie was. I hesitate to put it in the horror genre because it's more about the disintegration of a family. It is psychologically scary and there are a few scenes with gore. A creepy tone pervades the film, leading up to an unbelievable ending. There are two scenes that are Exorcist worthy. Watch with the lights out.

I loved story. This movie is not scary, But i loved story. If you looking for suspense or horror film, This is not for you.

It was ok. Some parts are scary but some are not. There was alot of talking but overall it was ok and pretty good in graphics for its budget.

I loved this film! I'm a big fan of Horror cinema and while this movie may not be a horror movie in the traditional sense, that's what makes it stand out from many others. The tension builds and builds throughout the entire film and immerses you into the story. The setting and time period (Early American Colonialism) are also what make this film a unique gem!

Movie was good and different from your typical witch story. Purchased at a great low price during Black Friday so was worth it!

Another one of those movies that leave you hanging in the end. Wanting more to clarify things or anything. Didn't care much for this movie.

This is a good movie. A little hard to understand the characters every once in a while and a little slow in parts but I still liked it.

this was not what i expected. but a cool movie. could have had a little more action, but not a deal breaker. well worth watching.
