Purchase (2) Thermaltake 850W power supplies. System AMD 4 3900X, Nvidia GTX980, 1 SSD, 1 7200 HDD. Used in work station with light use. We bench tested units before install and they seemed ok. Unit stopped working with 4 months use and is turn off at night. Fortunately it doesn't seem to have damaged anything else like it has for others. No burnt smell just doesn't work. We've had no severe weather and computer is on APC backup. After reading current reviews, we're taking both out of current systems and replacing with different brand. BestBuy 15 day return policy. $300 wasted. Maybe it could be used as paper weight etc. It looked good with RGB lights while it lasted.

    Faulty Line of PSU's

It worked fine at first, but then I started having power delivery issues such as my CPU cooler and storage drives losing power briefly, which evolved into random blue screens. I keep my computer plugged into an UPS (which I verified is not the issue) but I experienced a blackout which is when I found out this PSU doesn't work on UPS power. I verified this by switching a PSU from a different computer into the one I had this one in and it worked fine. I requested an RMA from Thermaltake and they got me a replacement unit quickly, but that unit had the exact same issues. I called Thermaltake at this point, and their customer support was extremely nice and helpful, but the gentleman said they've been having these issues lately with this line of PSU's and they would send me one from another of their lines of PSU's to replace it with, which I just installed and it seems to work fine. I give Thermaltake props for having good customer support and sending the replacements quickly, but the fact that they know about this issue and haven't done anything proactive about it, such as contacting purchasers and offering replacements or issuing a recall, is completely unacceptable. I will use the replacement unit they sent me as long as it continues to work properly, but Thermaltake lost me as a future customer and I will not be purchasing another PSU from them in the future. I warn you all to also at least avoid this PSU from Thermaltake as it clearly has issues.

Due to the system being run on a true sine wave power, it has ruined my experience with this unit. It looks nice and well built.. but it doesn't support your regular UPS. So don't buy it if you have regular power cuts

Stay away from this product! I should have read reviews before I bought it. I swapped out my old psu with this and it never worked. My pc never booted up , but it tried to. After double checking everything. I put my old psu back in and my system fired right up. I was so mad to find out it destroyed one of my hd! I guess I’m lucky because there are others that had their whole systems wiped out! Don’t know what their problem is, but I’ll never buy another thermaltake psu again!
