A Sequel that improves on the original!

I went into this film with a healthy bit of skepticism, While the Thor and Loki characters were great in the Avengers, I found the original Thor movie to be poorly paced, drawn out, bland, and largely the worst of the "Marvel Phase One Cinematic Universe." This second film however is very well pulled off, and while not quite the quality of The Avengers or Iron Man 3, it does do some decent world building and is finally well paced. The character growth that Thor undergoes is finally believable and the brotherhood between he and Loki is actually heartfelt. Hiddleston pulls off such a genuine tortured character that his work alone could sell the movie. This is easily one of the best Marvel movies and I highly recommend this to any fan of this universe.

    A Mighty Sequel

Thor's sequel (disregarding his foray into the Avenger's movie), is a great follow-up. While the general plot is rather expected (hey it's a superhero movie, what do you expect), it is enriched by wonderful performances (Loki), developing characters, and beautiful scenes. As always stick it out til the very end of credits for the usual bonus scenes. I highly recommend watching the bonus feature Marvel One Shot. Keep an eye out for a familiar Iron Man 2 face in it. All in all, it is a great addition to your film library, heck, being gifted with another shirtless Hemsworth was reason enough for me. :) I have to add- for Jane Foster to be such a brilliant woman you'd think she'd know that touching what appears to be sentient black ooze is always bad.

Arguably one of the worst marvel films, only beating out Ironman 3. Its really not that interesting other than that it introduces an infinity stone and the cut scene ties in the collector. Aside from owning this for your collection, its really not worth watching.

Not the best MCU Film, but the Transfer is good.

Thor: The Dark World isn’t a bad movie, but it’s by far the MCU’s weakest offering. It’s a strange movie to compare to the blu-ray because, while some scenes really lend itself to the higher resolution 4K can offer, a good amount of the film is spent in dull and grey locations. Still, the transfer is good. If you already own the blu-ray, I would say only upgrade if you’re looking to upgrade all of your MCU films (or if you just really like this movie). If you already own it and don’t watch it too often, the blu-ray gets the job done. However, if you’re looking to own the film for the first time, go with the 4K edition.

It was just... alright. Lol! The overall story was okay, but the villain was absolutely bland; no heart, no purpose (at least it wasn't visible to me), and certainly no place in the Marvel Universe. Don't get me wrong, Christopher Eccleston is a great actor, but I feel his character lacks fervor and the driving power of what it truly means to be a villain, a force to be reckon with; one that even makes the audience tremble. When making these superhero movies, Marvel is too focused on developing the hero and not enough time on the villain(s) that they lose their traction and reason to even exist in the same universe as Ironman, Hulk, Black Widow, and more. If MC executives want to gain momentum with their movies, then they need to step it up a notch with developing antagonists that have a rightful place in the annals of movie villain history.

I have seen all the Avengers Phase 1 movies and own them as well. I thoroughly enjoyed them and did not let my inner critic take over to ruin the experience that they provided. I saw this first in the theater so on ordering this it was because I knew I liked it and also that the extras would be great as they have been from these films. I enjoyed the renewed and continued comedy from the supporting cast that was present in the first film. The whole arc that occurs with Loki is exactly what you would expect from a comic book so that I enjoyed it actually since this is a movie based on decades of comic books. So as a fan of this genre and recent films from Marvel (and now Disney) I was quite entertained with this latest installment.

If you're looking for just a fun action-packed movie, this is a great choice. Like a roller-coaster ride, there are plot twists leaving you wondering "did they really just do that?" and "can I believe my eyes??" with reversals to keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing. Much more than just a bunch of landing of blows. In the first movie Thor proved his heart was in the right place to earn the throne. This movie, Thor has grown wiser, and proves he can outwit his opponent using his mind and not just his muscles. The only problem I had with the movie was that the villain's character development seemed a little weak. He doesn't say too much, but is determined to destroy the Universe. Maybe on second watch, he'll grow on me.

The follow up to the origin of Thor is not the best, specially due to the villain. It has its glorious moments, especially those of when Loki is on screen! This one serves it purpose in the MCU timeline but barely scratching the surface of worthy.

From the time before they'd really hit their stride with Thor, this is one of the lesser movies of the MCU - which still puts it on the above average side as movies go. SteelBook is really nice and will look good with the rest of the collection.

overall, being a Marvel comics fan for generations and always being a huge Thor fan, aside from other characters in the whole Marvel universe. This film put it over the top, enjoyed it through and through...and I am satisfied with this blu-ray purchase of Thor, not only for the film itself, but also the special features, including the short Mandarin film... I found that to be very interesting. I also enjoyed seeing the extra scene at the end of the film, which ties into the next Avengers movie, of which I am also looking forward to seeing in a year from now. and of course, since being a huge Marvel comics,at a very young age, I own most of the Marvel films, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Spider-man, to name a few. thanks...

I really enjoyed the first "THOR" movie, so I was worried that a sequel might not live up to the first film. Not to worry, this film was fun, fast moving and had a terrific story behind it. I picked up the 3D version, and while it has some neat show pieces--the 2D version suits the film just fine. They have done a nice job stitching together all of the characters from this end of the Marvel universe and continue to tie one event into another series, which has always been cool since it was introduced in both the second "Iron Man" and "HULK" films. My only disappointment was in not being able to find an available Best Buy Exclusive "Steel Book" version to purchase when I went to purchase it on release week.

I liked it despite the fact that it had an almost incoherent plot, cluttered special effects, the villain had no personality whatsoever, and Natalie Portman just walked through it occasionally looking surprised or frozen in terror

This review is for the movie, and the packaging. The movie is everything an Avengers fan could ask for. I won't spoil anything, but this picks up where the first left off. The plot is great, the acting is great, the ending is SUPERB. And the ending also sets off an over-arching Avengers storyline that will be continued upon in upcoming releases (Captain America The Winter Soldier, etc.) The special features are also great. Tons of extra content, and meaningful extra content. If you haven't picked it up, DO IT! You won't regret it. As for the packaging. I love it. The steelbook, that is. Sad that it had to be so limited in production, but I guess that will make it collectible as well!

    Better than the Original

I enjoyed this installment of Thor more than the original. The continuation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is what you come for, but the dynamic between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is why you stay. Plus, Kat Dennings is such a great comic foil in her role as Darcy. Extras: If i had one gripe about Marvel Blu-ray's in general, its their lack of in-depth special features, and this one is no different. I would like to see an hour long documentary included with the deleted scenes and gag reel, but we get a few featurettes. The look at Cap 2 is great, but the best added feature is the Marvel One-shot: Hail to the King. Easily the best One-Shot so far!

Marvel Studios has made a few missteps lately. Both Wolverine movies were a waste, and the Spider-Man reboot, unnecessary. But I'm happy to report that the ongoing series of Avengers-related movies are still scoring strikes. As much as I enjoyed the last Thor movie, this second film avoids the sequel curse by being even more fast-paced and fun to watch. Like the comic that inspired it, Thor - The Dark World revels in epic grandeur, with just the right amount of tongue-in-cheek humor to avoid being pretentious. Now I see that Captain America 2 is getting great reviews, and hopefully Avengers 2 will keep the ball rolling. Meanwhile, watch this and enjoy.

I am a big fan of all of the Marvel movies, really enjoy these on my 85" Sony!!! I purchased multiple SteelBook movies when they went on sale as I have a phenomenal player that renders these 4K versions superbly! Please note you need to have the proper components to play and view to get the most out of the 4k versions. Additionally, each SteelBook comes with exclusive content that give a bit more insight to the actual movie itself - interesting stuff.

I am a collector. I love having each type of platform whether DVD, digital, 3D and blu-ray as I share my movies and take them on trips, friends and family's homes. In preparation of Avengers 2 I purchased Thor 2 so a friend and I could Share Avengers 2 after within theories leading up to if. This is a great version of the movie and made for an enjoyable 2 weeks of movie experiences with me and a friend. There are 2 clips during the previews: one halfway through credits and one after they appear to be done at the very end. All of the movies had a secret and then a super secret ending that I missed the first go around.
