It’s ok. Doesn’t have as large of a catalog as other services. If you don’t have a high quality sound system, it’s kind of pointless to use this service. That’s kind of the point of it.

There are a lot of music streaming services available, but only a couple that offer HiFi. You have to have speakers that can handle the upgraded sound. If you are a casual listener, you will probably not notice the difference in sound quality, but it is there. I'm still on the fence if I want to keep it for the price even though Best Buy discounts it as a service provided by them. I have been able to find almost any recent (last ten years) of music. The curated lists tend to be geared toward the younger set of listeners. Other services have done better jobs of finding music for my "older" taste. If BB offers a trial, I would definitely suggest giving it a try.

You don't have to be an audiophile to love it.

I tried Tidal a few years back and their catalog was so limited that I gave up on them. Then I got a really cheap trial elsewhere a few months ago and found that they not only now have an extensive collection (comparable to most other major streaming services), but SUCH AMAZING quality that I finally got hooked enough to pay for a streaming service. Some notes: 1. I'm not what I'd call an audiophile, but I do like music. My problem is that I'm hard of hearing. I used to think that made it dumb to spend more on high-fidelity music, but the opposite is true. The vastly increased clarity of this service makes music enjoyable again, which had been fading with my hearing. 2. If you already have Tidal from another source, you can switch to the Best Buy subscription (which is cheaper than most), but don't contact Best Buy support. Buy the subscription here, get the code, and reach out to Tidal support. They sometimes take a couple of days to get back to you, but they can absolutely help you switch the payment to Best Buy so you can get the better pricing. 3. I also have some Sony over-the-ear headphones with 360 Reality audio, which works with Tidal. And it's awesome. 4. This is an option in the streaming services with our new AV receiver/surround sound system, so we compared this quality to my husband's YouTube music quality. No contest. 5. Sometimes finding things isn't quite as user friendly as I'd like, but it's definitely usable, And their auto-suggestions (which get more and more refined and offer more the longer you have the subscription and the more you listen) are quite good.

Tidal always seemed like a pie in the sky service since it came onto the scene a few years ago. It had high quality CD audio which would have been perfect for an audiophile like me, but word was that it didn’t have a lot of music. That has changed completely, they’ve really made up a lot of ground in the intervening years. When I started my account I transferred all my playlists over from Spotify (which worked pretty well, overall, with a few hiccups on Tune My Music) and I was surprised to see that I was able to get about 90-95% of the music on Tidal that I had in my Spotify playlists. The app works almost exactly the same as Spotify as well. The huge upside here is that everything is at least CD quality with some things being at the higher Master Quality and a small collection of music that even supports Dolby Atmos, which sounds great by the way. The price here on Best Buy can’t be beat either, half off puts it on par with Spotify. So I would say, if you’re worried about it not having enough music, worry no more.

Tidal may have had its ups and downs from a business model perspective - and in terms of features, it undoubtedly lags behind Spotify. However, within the audiophile community and with over 61-million tracks in lossless quality - Tidal is still king. Many hardware platforms (most notably: Roon, as well as the high-end Chord Electronics, but even the old-school-now-open-source Logitech Media Server (aka Squeezebox)) exclusively support Tidal. That’s saying a lot... While most streaming platforms have big-company-name integration contracts that limit what you can play them on, Tidal is about as open and platform-agnostic as they come. Both the desktop and mobile apps are performant and receive frequent updates, and I have no complaints using any of them (Android DAP, iOS phone, MacOS desktop). As far as getting your subscription - Best Buy consistently has the best price (for all levels, even after the first year, you’re saving around 50% off of the non-affiliate price) - and I get why Best Buy would subsidize / co-sponsor your account: they want to know what you’re listening to, on what device, at what time, and how frequently - in order to better target advertising to you. Say what you want about privacy, but I’m totally cool with Best Buy doing whatever they want with my Tidal usage data as long as they keep me happy with the deep discounts on this great service. In short, if you demand high-fidelity streaming audio and hate paying full price for anything - a Tidal subscription through Best Buy is a no-brainer.

This is better than Pandora. Even with premium subscription, you still got pointless commercials when you want music non-stop. It seems like 94 percent of all music you will find, I like to try and obscure songs and remixes that seem independently created. The sound is pretty solid and the non-stop track play is seemless. Almost like a CD moving on to the next song in Hi Def. Which brings me to the sound. I frequently use with Sol Republic headphones and it is clear as heck. There is a learning curve to this app but kinda worth it since it can connect you to good Playlists and the next auto-generated song is fitting. The best part is you can download music and really useful for trips with listening only downloaded tracks. Used with Samsung Note 9 phone. Not sure if I want to pay the subscription. Seems like it could be worth it.
