I placed one in my roommate's wallet since he's lost it twice. At times it will say that things are out of range or that it hasn't updated the last location correctly, but it does seem to work most of the time. I signed up for the premium account and they send a free battery for each of the devices each year.

Great for Any Tracking or Searching Application

They haven't been stolen, but we have tried them in a couple of different locations just for grins. The network is pretty solid and while it doesn't give an exact location, having a general vicinity is pretty good. Getting the four pack on sale gave us a couple extra for keys which have been useful more than once.
