tivo does not honor 1 year included
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The bolt itself is nice but buying the 1 year included version ended up being a nightmare calling support. First, they will start you up on the monthly plan since there is no option for your INCLUDED free year while they escalate the issue. Then after about 2 weeks, I get a email saying my machine does not qualify. After an hour on the phone, basically there is nothing anyone can do for me. Luckily i was in my return period or I would have paid an extra $100 for nothing. Left me with such a bad taste in my mouth with the experience of wasted time effort, tivo lost a new customer.

Well worth the money for 4k viewing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Added this to my 4k Samsung TV to replace my Tivo Premier. The Bolt recognized the TV was 4K during setup. The picture quality and playback are noticeably improved. Added streaming features for 4k content is a plus. The Bolt allowed me to remove my cable company's external channel adapter. It is no longer needed with the Bolt. The cable card was easily transferred / detected and did not require repairing via my cable company. So far, a home run for picture and playback quality. It would have been nice to have this product in black to match my entertainment system, but it is easily hidden out of site due to its small size. The remote works over the air, so it does not have to be line of site. Well done Tivo.

HBO wouldn't work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a HBO offer with my internet service … I took the cable card option, but they said it's an on demand channel and TiVo wouldn't be able to show on demand channels

Nice upgrade from Roamio
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Bolt as an upgrade from my Roamio for several reasons, the skip feature (to skip commercials with a single button click), Quick mode (to speed up playback), streaming to my Amazon Fire TV stick, phone and tablets, plus 4K support. So for me it was well worth it! Love the commercial skip for major network shows... it's like watching my show on Netflix. Still have my old Roamio but now hooked to a 2nd TV... and it can play shows from my new Bolt, another plus!

Thanks TiVo!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a Sony 75 inch 4k tv and was disappointed with the picture quality. When I used the Netflix app the picture was amazing so I knew the problem was the TiVo Romio. I purchased the TiVo bolt and the picture is now worth the 4 thousand I dropped on the tv. It's pretty amazing. Can't wait to see the football games now. Wanted to write this review for people on the fence wondering wether the picture would improve. Btw, my cable provider is Comcast.

Its a great start
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the Bolt, the included 1 years of TiVo service is fantastic. The interface is fast and easy to get around. I love the build in Applications like Netflix, Plex, Vudu, Amazon instant video, as well as music streaming services like Pandora. It all works together extremely well. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the included documentation just gives an overview of the device. You need to hit the internet for any detailed information on setup and use. Activating the M-Card can be a pain if the cable provider's reps do not know what they are doing. I bought a TiVo mini at the same time and set that up in the mater bedroom, via a MoCA network. The only equipment rental fee's Comcast is getting out of me is $1.50 for the M-Card.

Easy Setup - Great Solution
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 2nd TiVo and I like it better than the 1st. Recording made easy and streaming services (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu etc.) are there if you subscribe. I do wish they had Sling TV and a clock on the front of the unit. Other than that - perfect.

TiVo Bolt a step backward from Roamio Plus/Pro
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TiVo's new Bolt is a step backward, not forward, from Roamio. I became a customer primarily because of the 6-tuner Roamio's. More and more cable tv shows now are extending the show's run time by an extra two to five minutes, overlapping into times of shows on other channels. This was almost never a big deal with six tuners, but with only four, recordings are more likely to get chopped off or missed entirely. The new Bolt skip-forward feature is very underwhelming. It's only available on select shows and times each day, and even then there's sometimes a delay after the show finishes before the skip updates are added to the recordings. The new Bolt box shape and color is unattractive and also makes it difficult to stack with other entertainment center equipment because nothing can sit on top of it any more. I also really miss the lights on the front that showed not just when at least one show was recording but how many shows, as the Roamio did. There's now just one recording light with the Bolt. Also on the Roamio boxes when you were transferring a show from another box or device there was a blue light that indicated the transfer in progress. That too is gone and they just use the multi-purpose yellow light now. Certainly nothing huge, but one more thing they took away that used to be neat. I recall bragging to friends over the past year that when TiVo rolled out new updates they did such a good job always making things better, and never taking away good things people liked with the service and design enhancements. I can no longer say that because TiVo has taken away many things that I valued with the Roamio DVRs. TiVo Bolt is a huge disappointment. I returned the Bolt after a few short days. Hopefully TiVo will learn from their shortcomings and add back functionality to future models, as well as improve the new features to be available in more shows.

Great Upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Why people shell out $18.00 bucks to a cable company rather than 15 to TiVo still boggles my mind. 3 Dollars cheaper and a better platform. Great improvement to my 4 series TiVo.

Exercise in Frustration
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received this as a gift from my wife. We really liked the idea of having Netflix, Prime and our cable subscription in one place with one remote. Now I’m fairly savvy with all of this stuff but after 2 trips to Comcast and hours on the phone I was unable to make this work. To view your cable subscription with the Bolt you need to get a CableCard from the local cable company (Comcast for me). I did that, got home, installed the CableCard, powered up the unit and waited 30 minutes per the Comcast directions. After that I activated the CableCard on the Comcast Website. Next I went through the Tivo guided setup. This is a long process as the unit has to download the channel lineup and went through a series of updates. Finally when you are ready to watch live TV the screen says acquiring channels and was perpetually stuck at 72%. After about 15 minutes it would come back and say “unable to process request.” I spent a fair amount of time with the Comcast CableCard support. They were fairly familiar with Tivo and walked me through some setup and reboots….No luck. Finally I decided that the benefits of this expensive ($289.00) device simply was not worth it. Returned the Tivo to BestBuy and am happily back to a cable and Roku box. Finally Tivo requires you to go online and enter a credit card during the setup. When I gave up and wanted to cancel I couldn't do that online, I had to call and wait on hold for about 15-minutes to cancel. Something this expensive should just work.

Awesome for Over the Air (OTA) Television
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the past, I paid over two hundred dollars per month for Satellite TV. Now I happily pay the meager TiVo subscription. It is such a wonderful interface for both watching and scheduling both OTA and service based programs. I use NetFlix and Amazon and the One Pass manager finds programs OTA or on the services I subscribe too. I can't wait to watch all the missed episodes of my favorite shows. Anyone want to buy a used DTV box?

Take charge of your TV recording without cable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great way to record what you want to view when you want to view it. Find what you want to watch across many platforms; Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, or Roku and it will take you there with one click. Easy to use. It even makes suggestions based on other things you view. Like a particular actor? Put their name in the search and find out what is available to watch that they are in.
