Customers are saying

Customers love the BOLT OTA 1TB DVR & Streaming Player's ease of use, reliable DVR and recording features, and excellent picture quality. Many appreciate the comprehensive channel guide and the ability to easily skip commercials. While some users mention limitations in app support and the necessity of a subscription, the positive feedback on core functionalities outweighs these concerns. The remote control also receives high praise for its intuitive design.

Wasn't aware that if you wanted to record or fast forward or rewind that you had to pay a monthly subscription otherwise it's just a expensive tv tuner to get local stations

If you want a DVR, don't buy this equipment unless you have an exterior antenna. Who has an outside antenna?

We loved our TiVo many years ago when they had a partnership with DirecTV. The user interface is the best on the market in my opinion. However that DVR stopped working many years ago and we needed to use the in house DirecTV Genie, but we still missed the TiVo. Fast forward to 2019 and I'm looking to cut the cost of my viewing packages. Enter the TiVo Bolt OTA! I had purchased a nice HDTV antenna years ago, so I already had that on hand. I am now getting all of our local network stations in HD, with the easy ability to DVR shows for only $5.83 per month! (I purchased the 1 year TiVo service plan). I'm very happy with the quality of the picture, the cost of the service, and the ease of use. Love it! Just remember that you need a HDTV antenna that will get a good signal for the stations that you want to watch

Great software interface, setup is a breeze, and having a signal meter for pointing my over-the-air digital antenna made the whole process a slam dunk. The remote programming was a bit odd, but very manageable. NetFlix integration went smoothly without a hitch. The channel setup feature a big plus, was able to "prune out" unreachable channels that are outside of my area. The guide is very cable-like, and easy to use. Setting up and managing recordings was intuitive and easy. Do be aware there is a service subscription to make this a useful product that costs $77/yr. Considering I receive 50+ channels over the air, this was a no brainer versus continuing to pay $100/mo for cable. Minuses: The voice command interface on the remote is not as intelligent as cable service. The "My Apps" section is thoughtless, who write apps for Tivo???? Streaming from services other than NetFlix are non-existent, you'll need an external streaming device like a Raku for that. Overall: A great choice for cable cutters who want the cable-like software experience with DVR without paying the high cost of cable or satellite.

    Med Recording, BAD company

Be very careful. This is a cable box VCR that also has OTA capabilities. The box tends to lock up from time to time, which also affects any other mini you have connected to it. You have to reboot both boxes to get things corrected. That is the least of your worries. It does not matter it you use the box connected to a cable company, or simply take the content "Over The Air". You will pay the $149.00 yearly price. that is of course unless you want to buy their OTA box only for $200, then you only pay $69.00 a year. Doesn't matter if you downgrade your viewing from cable down to OTA, and are getting less content, you pay $149, and they won't pro-rate or refund the yearly amount either if you stop using it. Overall, so so box, and "Terrible" company. Just pay the $10 to the cable company. You really don't save any money getting this box. Or think about just getting the OTA only box.

It does what TIVO is well known for, but is an expensive solution for an ota dvr. It has excellent video quality. My problem is that it requires frequent reboots. I went through 3 units before i learned that the major problems is overheating and shutting down; operating temperature was exceeding 65 deg C. I installed exhaust fans and direct cooling fans to get the operating temperature down to about 55 deg C but it still sometimes requires a cooling off period before it will reboot. I would dump it but most of the other ota units do not record raw, native video so the picture quality is compromised. I recommend it it if you have a lot of patience ...
