With the sequel out, I thought I'd take a look at the UHD disc which will most likely be bundled with the Top Gun: Maverick 4K bundle. This comes packaged with both the standard Blu-ray and 4K disc which both feature the latest 2020 transfer. When compared to the 2008 Blu-ray, this has a much warmer tone overall and doesn't look like a COOL color preset. Images added so you can compare for yourselves. 2020 followed by the 2008 disc. Great sounding Atmos track especially given the film's age. If you're asking yourself which disc to get this is the one.

Digital Copy is NOT for 3D version! I had already purchased the 2D version, so I cannot attest to the "Digital Copy", which is one of the things I really look for when purchasing movies.

Good movie. 4k helps make movies I’ve never watched more palatable to my low expectations. But, good movie.

The movie is good and the sound track is second to none. 3D is OK but nothing spectacular. The picture isn’t as crisp and clean as my other HD BluRays. I’m satisfied overall.

Collecting DVd’s in this era feels weird but this is worth the buy

Top Gun has to be one of the greatest movies of the 80's. I still love it today.

My first 4k copy had to be replaced, it stuttered and pixelated at the scene where the CAG chewed out Maverick and Goose for the carrier tower fly by. Thankfully the replacement disk had no problems. In the late 70's i was stationed at NAS Miramar, a young AE working on F-14s. So I get a little nostalgic with this movie, I really enjoyed this movie, when it first opened and now, even though I have to overlook some inaccurate proceedures, system functions and flight capabilities of the F-14 as depicted in the movie. It still is, non the less, an outstanding film, the 4k transfer is the best one yet both for visuals and sound. If you "feel the need, the need for speed"... then put this one in your collection.
