Luckily I purchased this TV when there was a sale going on. I have never had a Toshiba TV and decided to give it a try. This one is replacing my 40 in Samsung Smarthub TV, which was outdated when it came to using the browser and being able to use more current apps. Set up was extremely easy. All I had to do was plug it in turn it on and connect to wi-fi and sign in to Amazon. When setting up my antenna channels I loved the fact that I ended up with more channels than I had. I do wish it had a owners manual. It did take me a minute to find where everything was settings wise. I just found out where the sleep timer was and that was due to looking through the reviews on here. I am having a problem though registering my TV with Toshiba. I took the numbers of the back and entered them and it keeps telling me its wrong. I have tried it several ways and no go, even took a pic to make sure I had it correctly. Any ideas? Other than that loving my purchase.

Wonderful Picture & Ease of Use

Picture is great! It's our first 4k TV. I thought I might never get one, but I simply could not pass up this price (it was $100 of the retail price). I love the antenna hookup on this TV as well. The FireTV has a built in live DVR of up to 30 minutes of pause time while you watch live TV through the antenna. Another great feature is the integrated TV guide which incorporates every OTA channel and our PlayStation Vue's channels into one guide. Select the channel you want to watch and the FireTV takes you there. It reduces the need for the TiVo in some circumstances (unless we want to watch a show recorded on TiVo). I do have to say I really like the ease of use and integration. I haven't even used all the features because we don't use a sound bar on this TV (this and our previous TV, which is 14 years old, so it has good speakers) because the speakers are quite adequate. If you want higher quality sound, then by all means use the ARC for a sound bar or 5.1 or 7.1 sound system. It is simply hard to go wrong. I wish I had known that the 49" 4k model of this TV was going to be sold for $200 just a week later, I would have bought it instead.

Good, Basic, Reasonably Priced Smart 4K TV

The Toshiba 43” 4K UHD TV - Fire TV Edition is a good, basic, reasonably priced smart 4K TV. The picture is great and includes the ability to display HDR content. Sound quality is also good. Setup is pretty straightforward. I did have trouble installing apps following initial setup of the TV. The app installation would hang and I had to power cycle the TV several times before the apps would install. The TV features the same interface and available apps, as the Amazon Fire TV stick. The customization within the main TV interface is very limited. It would have been nice if there was an option to be able to power the TV ON into a given input without having to select the input the home interface first. Most of the time when I turn a TV on, I am not turning it on to watch Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, or another streaming app. I am turning it on to watch the evening news or other live TV broadcast, and would be prefer to start up into that input without having to fiddle with selecting the input on the home screen. In other words, it needs to be a TV first and a smart device second. Not the other way around. When first powering up the TV, it has a tendency to lose its 5GHz wireless connection to my home network from time to time, and you will get a connection error on the screen. Maybe these few minors issues can be addressed in a future firmware update. Otherwise, it is a good TV and would recommend it if you are looking for a good 4K smart TV in this price range.

    An Excellent Piece of Technology!

The Toshiba - 43” Class – LED - 2160p – Smart - 4K UHD TV with HDR – Fire TV Edition is a true hybrid piece of technology. It performs like a television combined with a huge android tablet. It scans for digital television channels over the air and can install android apps from Amazon. I had to sign in to Amazon to initiate the registration and setup process. After finalizing those processes, I then scanned for OTA DTV channels and loaded 59 channels to the Toshiba - 43” Class – LED - 2160p – Smart - 4K UHD TV with HDR – Fire TV Edition. The picture is amazingly clear, sharp and displays color in rich detail. This television also performs similar to the Amazon Fire stick, with respect to “jail breaking” it, in order to allow installation from third party sources not available inside the Amazon App store. The volume is much too loud to go past 35 -40. The sound quality is great with just a small increase of volume. Amazon Alexa is also included to provide voice command, instead of manually inputting commands. There is nothing negative that I can find to critique this excellent piece of technology. I am truly satisfied with the Toshiba - 43” Class – LED - 2160p – Smart - 4K UHD TV with HDR – Fire TV Edition.

Okay, so I'm in love with it

First, I'm not a TV person. The last thing I thought to buy was something like this. But then I thought back to the last Toshiba laptop I had -- it lasted more than 10 years back in the days when laptops rarely went for more than two or three. That was one reason for choosing this brand. Second. I was curious about 2160p smart 4K and all else. Had no idea what an Amazon Fire TV even was but since I'm a Prime subscriber, figured it would be good to try out. So I went for it, ordered and it was delivered earlier than expected! Easy set up, turned on -- the updates were crazy though -- everything great so far. Love the ease of use, the apps, and of course the ability to get live, local TV. I am not just pleased about going with Toshiba again, I think I'm in love with Amazon Fire TV, and the Alexa remote is absolutely perfect! And of course, love Best Buy for doing what they do best. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Now it looks like I'm a TV person after all.

I bought this on a whim because our TV is 11 years old. I got it because it's 4K HDR and saves me the trouble of connecting a Fire, Apple TV, etc. and would leave more HDMI ports available. Out of box experience: Not very smooth, initially. The remote would do nothing other than turn the TV on and off. Through some magic incantation of holding Menu, or Play, or a combination of buttons, the remote finally "paired" with the TV. After that, the setup was painless, though it had software updates it wanted to apply as soon as I connected it to wifi. The instruction booklet was useless for the remote issue. It says it should happen automatically, which it did not appear to. Sound: The sound was surprisingly acceptable. I almost got a sound bar with the TV, but thought I should hear the TV's built in sound first. It is adequate and I won't be needing a sound bar for my needs. A sound bar would have to be fairly good to be noticeably better than the TV. An entry-level bar won't sound much better. Picture: Also great for an LCD. Colors look fantastic, and 4K is a nice change. Software: This is probably why I picked this TV. Some of the TVs I've used in the past had slow, buggy user interfaces. Not this one. It's smooth, easy to navigate, and "apps" open almost instantly. As an aside, I appreciate that the TV has a "dumb" mode where signing in with an Amazon account is not required, but the TV will act like a simple TV with input selection.

This TV hits the mark for around $300 with high quality picture (4K or HDR) while including FireTV for the Smart elements. That allows you to use Alexa to change channels, find content, etc. Very cool feature; although you have to use the remote and hold the microphone button to activate. The Live TV support looks like it would work very well assuming it's connected to an antenna source, so this could work out for a cord cutter - it pulls down the guide information based on your zip code. This is my first 4k TV, and for most content, I can't see a difference. However, for the Prime originals shot in 4K, you can definitely see it. Three caveats to this otherwise great TV: 1. 5GHz Wireless connectivity seems to disconnect after power off and power on. I'm guessing this will eventually be fixed with a FireTV update. 2. No sleep timer - this caught me off guard as I intended to put it into a bedroom where we use this feature a lot. This too might come with a system update, as I know with our Amazon Echo Dot, I can say "Alexa, set a sleep timer for 20 minutes" and she does what we expect. 3. No component inputs. This is pretty clear from the product description, but it also caught me off guard when trying to connect an old video game system to the TV (Nintendo Wii).

      Hello liko,

Thank you very much for your detailed review of our Toshiba Amazon Fire TV Edition TV.

To respond some of your questions:

      1. TV does include a Sleep Timer. To access this, press and hold the Home button on your remote and select Sleep Timer to access this feature.

      2. Regarding TV video inputs, although the TV does not include Component Video inputs, it does include a Composite video input which is available on many older video sources.

We hope this helps to keep enjoying your new TV.

For the Money, You Can't Do Better

I picked this TV up as part of the flash sale that happened just this past week for $199. At that price--and even at its current price--this TV really is a steal. For comparison, our main television is a 51" Samsung QLED. To be clear, the QLED does have the better picture (which, given the price difference, it should). However, it's not *that* much better. I was very pleasantly surprised by how crisp this TV looks, especially when playing a 4K UDH Blu-ray disc--the HDR and overall clarity is stunning. A quick tip for anyone thinking about picking this up: go into the settings when you first set up the TV and be sure to turn the "HDR Tone Mapping" option to "On." For whatever reason, this was set to "Off" on the TV by default. Turning it on seems to make HDR content really pop. I will note, though, that older shows--such as Star Trek: The Next Generation--don't necessarily benefit from the tone mapping (it actually creates an odd effect where the colors are exaggerated in a somewhat unnatural way). With that said, it isn't so distracting that I feel the need to constantly toggle the tone mapping based on the content, and after a few days of use I've decided it's best to just leave it on all the time. All-in-all, this TV is a great deal, especially if you're looking for something for a smaller space such as a bedroom or office. I feel like it bears repeating one more time: if you have a device that can play 4K UHD Blu-ray discs, you're really going to enjoy this TV. It has exceeded my expectations, and I'm sure you'll have that same experience.

PROS -Economical Pricing -Amazon Alexa voice-controlled services -Easy Setup -Audible Books -Amazon prime membership benefits such as video -Access to your personally library of songs, audio books, and videos if you have Amazon’s Prime membership CONS -Audio appears to be inconsistent -Not the best picture resolution SETUP/DESIGN First off, this TV arrived with basic packing—meaning, it was nothing special done to protect it as it was in a box with Styrofoam around the edges to prevent possible damage. I guess this came as a surprise because of the way, new TVs are packaged with extra care to prevent screen cracks. Perhaps, this was the case as this is not a high-end TV. This really can be done with 1 person as I got it in without any major hassle; however, a friend did lift it and put it in place for me. Setting the TV up was very easy and user friendly. I am an Amazon prime member; therefore, all I had to do was input my E-mail address along with password and from there, everything was a go. The process of adding apps work just like a computer, as such, I downloaded apps from ABC, NBC, CBS, and Audible books to start. You can choose services from Netflix, Sling, Hulu, to name a few. PICTURE/AUDIO Unfortunately, the picture resolution in this TV is not good. For example, I watched an aired “Dateline” show and the picture appeared grainy and distorted. I will note, that pictures on the screen saver that appear are nice as they are vibrant in color with rich hues. Referencing audio, the audio seemingly has a problem. For example, I set the audio to 71 as I listened to one of my audio books from Audible while doing house chores. The tone of the narrator was clear, but out of nowhere, the volume increased to a blaring high. This incident happened to me several times while listening to the audio book. I speculate that the volume does not adjust immediately, but later. This very well maybe a glitch since this is a new TV. CONTROLS/SOFTWARE The TV uses Alexa voice control commands, which is great. You can say, “Alexa pause that channel for a moment,” which can be very beneficial if interruptions occur. The remote is intuitive and navigates easily. Overall, I do recommend this TV for entry level into the 4K market or if you want to experience 4K, but are on a limited budget.
