Toshiba 55" Fire TV Edition

I was hoping I could tell Alexa to control the TV. It's not happening! When the TV turns on, the screen looks like it does with a regular Fire stick. I have to locate the input button on the remote control to switch to HDMI 1 in order to watch TV. Unfortunately, my mom is not able to remember the steps to watch regular TV.
