Almost a good budget TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off by saying that toshiba has been around for a long time. I have had a older tube tv by toshiba for SEVERAL years. This 55in has a spectacular picture in my opinion. There only thing that caused me to return it was the fact that, how do I put this, it would have small sections on the screen that would do a jitter or stutter effect in various places. This was sporadic but did happen pretty often while watching anything from Blu Ray to HD satellite to a mp4 in HD. After trying multiple things to try and figure out what was causing this, the conclusion upon reading other reviews with this similar issue, I decided it was hardware based (meaning, something with the processing of the video was not being handled right to cause the jittering in sporadic sections of the screen) and I wasn't going put up with that, even for a budget tv. Any TV should play flawlessly and smoothly without any hiccups. So I returned it in replacement for a TCL of same size and price. Which I will be giving a review as well. Please note I have read worse issues with this model but the majority of the issues were similar to mine that has 1 to 3 stars rating. It appears that the engineering of this budget tv shows the quantity vs quality in the number is reviews I have read on this model. I'm giving one star because any New TV should always play the video flawlessly. If you buy this model you may get lucky and get a solid one. But the chances are higher that you'll get one with an issue. Hope this helps.

Great TV for price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the money a very good TV. Picture is great, lots of features and love the Fire TV. The only reason that not a 5 star is the speakers could be a little better.

Good TV, but lasted 2 days.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this TV on Black Friday after reading such good reviews here, and it arrived 2 days ago. After picking it up, it was very easy to use and intuitive. so me and my family were excited for the purchase. Soon I noticed the microphone button on the Voice Remote with Alexa was not working; after looking it up online, I found out it was a common issue on the remotes. I was considering not sending it back just for that, but today, 2 days after picking the TV up from the store, the image went black in the middle of a movie. The sound kept going and stopped after a couple of seconds. We have unplugged it and plugged it back, disconnecting everything, waiting a few hours and nothing has worked. The little blue light on the lower-right corner still lights up when turning it on, but there's no image; we could also hear the Netflix app starting up on one occasion, but even then the screen was black. It is such a shame to have to return it, and such a waste of time. This might be an isolated incident but if this had happened after the 15 day period on Best Buy's return policy, it could have been money down the drain.

Great TV, but slow Amazon
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the TV for 3 days, I love the brightness of the display, much better than my Samsung 55 that is 7 years old. Also, the 4K looks great. I have notices a little bit of artifacting on some shows and movies, but it is slight. Also, my biggest complaint is that the Amazon Fire TV built-in is slower than my old Amazon Fire TV set-top-box. I wish that the TV was faster, or had a tiered Fire TV feature were I was given the option to buy a 55 inch version that had a faster processor and storage or average speed one (similar to buying a fire tv set-top-box or fire stick).

Nice Tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for just a plain old tv..... a thing of the past =) So I had a Toshiba before and went with this, Didn't want the FireTV part. It was a couple of days before I got the idea. A basic amazon account will do. Register your device. Apps are chosen from there and will be loaded to the TV. Add cable box or use apps from the networks. A pleasant surprise after all.

Excellent TV for a bedroom
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent For my dark bedroom. HBO and Netflix work without opening the apps. It works great with my eco-dot, being able to turn it on and off as I am going to bed with out having to go for my remote. The 4K and HDR are just awesome ,in the store it looked a little dark but out of the bright lights it looks fantastic.

Bought 2, both died w/in 75 days, Best Buy No Help
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased 2 55 inch Toshibas for an Airbnb so I kind of cheaped out trying to save about $50 or so dollars over a comparable Samsung, Vizzio or LG. Huge mistake. One died and completely stopped functioning and I thought it was cable. Cable came out and showed me it was TV. Not more than maybe 2 hours later, my 7 year-old was watching cartoons on the other and it just went blank. This one is doing the same thing. Turn on and screen is blank. Turn off and turn on again . . . nothing. Best Buy tells me to bring them in and they will exchange them. So I take them down, bring them in and the, in a very rude and condescending manner, tell me I should have paid the extra $50 for Geek Squad on these $350 TVs and they would not do anything for me but give me Toshiba's number and tell me to take them back home. I purchased 2 more Samsungs to replace as I had to have working TVs for this Airbnb and my sales person said this happens "pretty frequently" on those and its a "processor issue." "Get a Samsung" he said. Just purchased these 55 inch Toshibas about 70 days ago. They were perhaps delivered less than 60 days ago. Even when they worked, they had an annoying boot up screen that you had to navigate before you could watch them. Never again. Spend the few extra dollars to avoid an inferior product that may end up dying and Best Buy won't stand behind or help you with unless you spend n extra $50 for Geek Squad.

JUNK! Stay Away!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the TV during a door buster sale. ($350). The picture was decent, nothing special. I noticed some blur during fast movements. The sound without surround is bad. I do not like the interface when the TV first starts. (Home Screen) It will not stay on the last selection you picked when you turn the TV off. You will always have to choose HDMI 1 for cable TV when you turn it on. Kind of annoying. After 4 days the TV went completely dead in the middle of the Army vs Navy game. Returned it and got another, only because of the price and the because of the placement of the this TV's legs (Center Mount) The legs on this TV saved me from money from buying a stand or mount because they allowed me to use my old TV stand that is not very wide. Hooked up the second TV directly out of the box and the sound started making a digital cracking sound within 1 hour of use. Returned it and purchased a 65 Sharp Roku ($499). Amazing TV, I am so happy. These TV's are JUNK!!!! Besides the two I return, I also noticed they had another one of these in the open box area. No telling how many more they had in the back. I wasted a lot of time with this product, don't make the same mistake. I did some research after the two returned TV's, Compal Electronics???? Is the company that makes these TVs. These are not the reliable Japanese made toshiba's that we used to buy in the old days. It is just Rebaged JUNK.
