    This was to be my backup drive ,I used it twice , stored it in it's original box in a safe, went to use it after 6 mos. and it no longer can be read by any computer

      Thank you for the review, pixydust, and sorry to hear that your Canvio drive seems to have stopped working after being idle for 6 months.

      That is not expected, of course, and even less so considering how little it was used. In any case, you can initiate Toshiba's warranty replacement process at acclaim.toshiba.com anytime during the warranty term.

    Set up seemed simple. I then copied all of my picture files to this drive, since I wanted to use it as a backup. The next day, the problem started. Every day when I turn on the computer, I would get the message that my Canvio drive needs to be reformatted. I unplug the drive from the computer, plug it back in, and then it works fine. I have to do this every time I restart my computer. I have been unable to find a fix for this online, and I went on vacation for a while so it is probably too late to return it. It says it only needs reformatting if you use a MAC, which I do not. I am not using the drive like I would have because of this issue.
