This is fine as temporary storage. Mine crashed after spending time in my overused camera bag. I do not recommend this for permanent storage.

Thank you for the review, RustyNTexas, and sorry to hear that you had some sort of problem with your Canvio Connect II drive.
I wonder what type of symptom you're experiencing with the drive and whether or not you've tried testing it with an alternate device, in case the device you've normally used it with has developed a USB port problem.
In any event, if the drive (or its cable) proves to be defective you can initiate Toshiba's warranty replacement process at acclaim.toshiba.com anytime during its 1-year warranty.
Thanks again for the feedback and for choosing Toshiba.

Thank you for the review, Monica, and sorry to hear about the crashes and noise issue with your Canvio Connect II hard drive.
Those crashes could be a connectivity issue with a cable or USB port but unusual sound coming from the drive is likely a sign of impending failure.
Because of the noise, I recommend initiating the warranty replacement process at acclaim.toshiba.com, which can be used anytime within the drive's 1-year warranty.
Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

I am the Toshiba Portable Hard Drive fan since 2004. Tried too many from other brands before, however, all of them made me feel disappointing.

This hard drive is smaller than expected and lighter than expected, but otherwise lives up to what I would expect from a brand like Toshiba.

This product works very well with my toshiba laptop, however per the maker of this product it will not work with a mac unless you make major modifications. I had to purchase another hard drive for my mac.

Thank you for the review, Timmybb, and sorry that you had trouble using your Canvio Connect with a Mac.
There's not really any major modification necessary to use this drive with a Mac. After connecting to a Mac you simply run the Mac OS 'Disk Utility' app to reformat it to the 'Mac OS Extended' native format, which would be needed for any drive formatted to NTFS (as is the case with most retail high capacity hard disks.)
Thanks again for the feedback.

I purchased this to backup photos and videos. Since I purchased it I've had multiple drive read error messages. I've had to run the Windows drive scan and repair over 5 times in order to fix error message. If you ask me its not worth it, try another brand. Maybe if your storage needs are more simple than maybe its ok. I don't know the answer to that. But I would not buy another one.

Thank you for the review, flyingacefilms, and sorry to hear about the read errors you've experienced with your Canvio Connect II drive.
Of course it shouldn't be necessary to perform multiple drive scan & repair operations over a short period of time there. The problem could be indicating an unreliable USB connection, so to help isolate the cause of the problem I recommend connecting the drive to a different USB port and then, if the problem still occurs, try using it with a different computer (if possible), to see if the problem might be isolated to use with the current computer. If you have another USB 3.0 cable available, you may want to try using that one to see if it solves the problem.
If the drive does prove to be defective you can initiate Toshiba's warranty replacement process at acclaim.toshiba.com anytime during the warranty term.
Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble.

Portable Size, Enormous Space

I bought this Toshiba drive after several research into which would be the best option for me.
I like reliable things that just work and boy, this drive screams reliability all over the place.
First, it doesn't have all the bloatware that many vendors load into their units (i'm looking at you, Sandisk), so most of th espace is actually usable.
Also, the size factor was taken into account. This is a small, really portable drive. I just carry it in my pocket, connect whenever I go and Presto!
Last, I like the fact that this unit is realy silent, you can't thel it is working unless you look at the light that's on top.
In short, this is a small sized reliable unit, with a lot of space inside.

I bought this drive to use with my Xbox One to increase my storage. The Xbox formatted it and it has worked perfectly. I've been able to store many games on it so far and it has been fast. It just works.
