this portable drive is great. The casing is a nice brushed aluminum finish. Feels and looks like a premium product. it was decently priced. Works for both mac and PC as long as it's formatted properly. Able to format the drive completely, ridding it of any built in back up software and what not that comes on most external drives these days. It runs USB 3.0 which is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. It's only USB, no firewire or e-sata or anything. Can't really comment much on actual data transfer speeds, as I'm not that finicky, however it didn't feel slow or anything, so seems good enough for me!

If you need to save space or you are running out of space on your internal hard drive then this is what you need; the Toshiba 1 TB portable external hard drive with 3.0 USB connection. You can backup/download files to this external hard drive and delete files from you internal hard drive to free up much needed space. Files I backed up/downloaded were photos, videos and music files.

I read great reviews on this item and decided to see it for myself. I bought it and was very impressed with it's small size, portability, quick install and fast accessibility. It is powered and accessed by one USB cable (included in the box, no other cables or power cords needed), and is almost as fast as a Solid State external HD. A Must Have for anyone looking for a fast external drive (backup or additional storage). I highly recommend this product because of it's Low price, Great value and Big features!

I've now purchased two of these. They are sturdy, fast, and have been compatible with a variety of computers running XP to Windows 10 (something I've found is not always true for USB 3.0 devices). Strongly recommended.

Drive is compact , easy to install, inexpensive, and plenty of storage. Was purchased for making system image of 750 GB hard drive before and after installing Windows 10.

This was purchased to travel along with me and my laptop. I'm a photographer/videographer and when I travel, I need to dump sometimes hundreds of gigs of photos and video. This portable drive is really light, looks like it was made for my Samsung laptop, and transfers pretty fast. Speed isn't the more important thing for me, as it's really just a backup for the data until I can get home. So far, I'm giving this 5 stars for value and appearance. I think I paid right around $70 for it.

This product was recommended to me by my son to use as a backup hard drive for my MacBook Pro. I've only started using it, so I don't have a lot of personal experience with it. However, it was easy to install and use. The Apple Time Machine software loaded right up, I was able to use the Time Machine backup immediately. It is an unobtrusive, attractive unit that seems to work well with my MacBook Pro.

A nice compact external hard drive that works great! A good storage size for the price paid. Very happy with this. Hope it lasts a long time. Our old external hard drive (diff company, but purchased at Best Buy 5 years ago) is still working great.

This external hard drive is very small, but has a huge amount of storage. Set up was easy, although, if you are using it with a Mac, they don't have the instructions printed. There is a program to run within the set up folder. Otherwise, it is working fine and hardly takes up any room near the computer.

This is a slim and portable hard drive. It has plenty of space and it is easy to use. It's great for backing up your laptop and alleviating data from your computer. The hard drive makes it easy to store everything you need in one location for future reference and can easily be taken with you.

I'm always skeptical when I don't have the time to fully research a product when I need something right away. This wasn't an impulse buy, it was more of a "I need to get this on the way home or not at all" purchase. I had a large amount of data to transfer from one system to another, it had to be done that night and it had to be fast. I needed to create and transfer a .vhd file off a laptop to my desktop and didn't have any room on the laptop or the desktop to create and store. Hence, the need it right now scenario. The Toshiba was priced right (on sale), it was USB 3.0, and it was a full 1Tb of storage. The file I needed to create was over 500Gb and this was the best option after reading the packaging off all the other devices in this range. I'd buy it all over again if I had to.

This is a great compact hard drive, with more than enough room to store my huge music library, photos, files, etc. It is small enough to easily store, and takes very little effort to use.. just plug and go. Got a great bargain on it and it has really been worth it. Love it, great product

Works for backing up my saved Xbox one console with 1 terabyte and fast transfer speed at 3.0 devices. Never lose games once stored on this device. Also, compact in size, it fits alot of saved games on Xbox one for me, just plug in external and transfer when needed or on the go!

It serves it's purpose well. I use it as a backup for files, pictures, movies and etc. It definitely helps me free up space especially since the IPhone and IPad does not allow to increase storage space. Its' sleek and stylish, not bulky. It does the job!

This unit works as it should. It's easy and was much smaller than I thought it would be. Easy to put in a small fire safe box, or your purse or even large pocket. And so much space on it!

I purchased this to back up all of my pics/video on our iMac computer. I wanted a place to safely store them in case our computer ever crashed. I would be devastated if we lost our pics/video of our son from birth until now. I plugged it in, opened the file to download one thing so that it's compatible with our Mac and then I simply drag/drop all the files I wanted to store on it. I also read that you can use "TimeMachine" to back up the whole computer but I haven't tried that feature yet. Took about an hour to copy over 132GB of pics/video.

I got this for myself for Christmas. For photos and important documents, either on my iPhone or laptop or table, it's simple - get a free Dropbox account, upload your photos via wifi every so often, when your free Dropbox account is full, connect this awesome, portable external hard drive to your computer and download all the photos from your Dropbox to it. Then wipe your Dropbox and start again. This external is great - it's lightweight but sturdy, sleek and sexy design, and super portable. It comes with free cloud storage space that I haven't even checked out yet. But I got it to back up an old external hard drive - can't ever be too safe!!

I have always purchased WD external portable hard drives but I could not resist the pricing on this External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive. Transfer speed is quick, design is beautiful and slim and works great Recommend this product.
