Install went off without a hitch - 250 gig WD blue to 128 gig Pro Q, in an Acer AO533 netbook - recovery partition intact (Using NTI Echo). I did see a slight "not as sketchy" performance boost, but not the night and day everyone else is going on about. I'm going to chalk that up to them going from a fully loaded down PC, back to a clean install (which has the same effect, even without a new drive). This machine only has Office installed, and all files are either on the cloud or flash media - no giant list of resource hogging apps here. It achieved what I was after - power and noise - and for that, I'm happy. RAM is where the real boost is...

    Great laptop upgrade!

After experiencing SSDs, I decided to purchase one for my laptop, as an improvement over the original HDD. The added bracket spacer helps with ensuring a good fit. Installing it and running the operating system setup was easy, and it brings a massive improvement to booting up a laptop. It is very straightforward and a great buy.

    Great Drive For Laptops

I was repairing my brothers Asus x401a laptop. They'd been having problems with bluescreens before and I fixed it only to have it fail again after being wiped and Windows 7 re-installed. This time I could not get the drive to load at all. Windows setup did not even see it. Bios did not either. I tried reading it from USB and no dice. So I told him - the hardrive is failed and needs to be replaced. Told him about Solid State Drives and how I recommended purchasing an SSD. He bought it, and I picked it up. Once I got home I'd already had the laptop taken apart so it took me about 3 minutes to install the drive in. I began the setup process of installing Windows 7 via USB onto the drive which went REALLY, REALLY FAST. Then I screwed the laptop back together once I realized everything was working well. Anyway, as I installed all the drivers and Windows Updates I was amazed at how fast the rebooting was. Almost near instant. And considering this laptop is like a $350 laptop putting an SSD in this thing really turned it into a new laptop. Today, the slowest component of most laptops is going to be the slow 5400 RPM mechanical hardrives. It's the serious bottleneck. But once I popped this drive in there, the computer was running perfectly. The almost non-existent load times for Chrome and other applications greatly helped the speed of the entire laptop. I have my own laptop that does not have an SSD and it cost around $700 but has a better processor, faster Ram and more Ram than the little Asus. But I'll be damned if the Asus did not actually operate faster in terms of booting, openning and operating in applications. My next step is to buy one of these for my own laptop! Highly recommended.

Does the job and was convenient to pick up locally. However at this price I would not recommend if you have time to wait.

Quick reliable drive thus far. Price was decent compared to other retailers. Somewhat O.E.M. though, not much hardware included to mount if not going in a laptop or such. Bought this for my dual boot hackintosh build. OS X 10.9.2 is installed on this drive.

Great Preformance but Dead After 7 months

I was hoping this would last over 3 years. Dead to the p.c after only 7 months. Lost a perfect install of Windows 8.1 (uefi). This thing wont even show up in the bios, mbr or uefi just DEAD !! True it is under warranty but it is to much trouble, Toshiba wants it back first before they honor there warranty.

Thank you for the review, Slenda, and sorry to hear about the trouble with this drive.

If the drive is proven to be defective, you can initialize the warranty replacement process at acclaim.toshiba.com anytime within its 3-year warranty. You don't need to return the drive before getting its replacement but you would need to provide a credit card number as assurance that you will return the defective drive.

Thanks again for the feedback and sorry for the trouble. Toshiba

Great price and quality. I bought this item bught couldn't install it. My laptop was too old to work with this SSD drive. So, please make sure drive is compatible with your laptop before buy.
