||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Terrible presentation. I've owned this on dvd, blu-ray and now 4k HDR and they still don't have it right. Such a classic too bad.

A movie that should never have been remade.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let's face it. Total Recall should have never been remade. All together now. "Total Recall should have never been remade." There. Now that's out of our system. Paul Verhoeven made a movie that was much closer to the original Philip K. Dick story, "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale," except Verhoeven brought the Mars revolution to the forefront. This, the original version (and only version if it were left up to me), has been cleaned up and looks pretty good, although not great, when compared to other movies from the early 90s that look much better. The sound is more lively than previous versions of the movie, and the dialogue is perfectly mixed. Some cool new extras are added in this "Mind-Bending Edition." Previously omitted featurettes are included, along with a couple new extras, including a conversation with director Paul Verhoeven, an awesome visual effect featurette, and an obligatory comparison featurette that is only 5 mins long. Bottom line, it's the original. It's Arnie. Sharon Stone. The deliciously evil Ronny Cox (who was the OCP baddie Dick Jones in Verhoeven's classic, RoboCop), and the always entertaining Michael Ironside (see also Top Gun, Starshop Troopers, and video game fans will recognize his voice from the Splinter Cell video games). Total Recall is considered by most to be a 'thinking man's sci-fi" title, as is Gattica, Dark City, Minority Report, Solaris (the original, non-Clooney version), and the pièce de résistance, Blade Runner. I love it because under the action, there's a soul. Just like in the others of it's kind, no matter the science in the fiction, it is usually the humanity that's the most fascinating part of these stories.

a sci-fi thrill ride par excellance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like Blade Runner before it and Minority Report after it, Total Recall is a sublime adaptation of Philip K. Dick's work. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays perhaps the most sympathetic character of his career. His Douglas Quaid is a quiet man (who just happens to be muscular) whose lifestyle is turned upside down when he realizes that everything he knows about his life and himself is a lie. This leads him to Mars to try to overthrow its bloodthirsty dictator who has a connection to who he truly is. Sharon Stone (just before Basic Instinct) is also first-rate as Quaid's wife, who has a secret or two of her own. This is more action-packed than Blade Runner or Minority Report, but it's just as memorable.

Benny is the name!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.THe movie is really mind-bending. And we should also thank Goldsmith for its superb soundtracks. The main theme is so powerful and adventurous. Some other tracks that are meant to assist in what's on the screen to bend your mind are rhythmic and deep. Arnonld's acting is believable and many supporting roles contribute tremendously to the overall appeal of the film. Well, basically, Paul Verhoeven has made his movie almost like an implanted memory about a fantasized adventure for the audience. Good pun!

Great Arnold movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not much more needs to be said about Total Recall. It's a great sci-fi movie that really didn't need a remake. The video and audio quality is MUCH better than the older disc, so be sure to buy this new "Mind-Bending" remastered version.

sci-fi/action movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Total Recall is still one of the best sci-fi movies that I have ever seen and its still holds up to today’s standards. Its has a great plot and probably the best soundtrack ever made. If you like Schwarzenegger movies you will like Total Recall.

See the Original - Not the Remake
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Watched it on Blu-ray last weekend and still enjoyed the heck out of it even after seeing it so many times previously. Arnold at his box office prime. The PQ is quite good for an older film. The AQ is definitely not up to current blockbuster standards but serves the picture well enough. Forget the remake and catch the original.

I was surprised that I didn't hate it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to admit that I didn't really want to see this movie, because I didn't feel you could do justice to the original. In a way, I was right. They succeeded in this movie by making it their own, and just throwing in a few winks to the original. I enjoyed it as a new movie, but when comparing it to the original, you just cannot remake it!

Mind Bending Bluray Review

classic 90s sci fi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Total Recall was an excellent Science Fiction movie from 1990 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, your classic blow-em-up flick with a sci fi twist. I highly reccommend it. It is one of the last movies to use an actual set instead of CGI
