Great wireless plan, the worst customer service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd give 5+ stars *except* for initial setup process, which alone is worth 0 stars. I've been on TW phone plans for just over a year, starting with a single line and subsequently adding a second and recently a third line in a 3 line family plan -- obviously I like them. The deal is the best, and the service (Verizon network) is as good as it gets, at least in the areas I travel. The ONLY downside is getting phones activated using an unlocked BYOD Android cell (Moto 5G+, Moto 6G, and a Samsung Galaxy 7 or 8.) In each case I verified online that the phone was compatible, but the customer service agent told me it wasn't. All 3 were wrong. Most transfers of service eventually went OK, but one phone (Transferring from T-Mobile) was offline for ~4 days until a new SIM could be shipped. It was a real pain, although TW paid for the replacement SIM and 2-day shipping. If you aren't somewhat technically informed (or have a geeky personal friend) with persistence and a high tolerance for being on the phone with tech support and walking *them* through the process, this may not be for you. I don't look forward to doing that again, but probably will anyway when I upgrade phones. If you are buying a new virgin TotalWireless phone and SIM, the process should be much easier, but I don't know. After the phone(s) are set up life is good, and the price is great.

Would not recommend Total
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've previously used pay-as-you-go services such as Tracfone and Smart-Talk, but Total seemed way too oriented toward advertising and making it difficult for you to eventually walk away.

As good as it gets
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just switched from Verizon to Total Wireless. Easy as can be to make the switch. Many reviews state that customer service is lacking, but my experience was the opposite. Two chats and one phone call yielded the nicest, most knowledgeable tech support when I could not get data to work on my Galaxy S7. My bill for two lines has gone from $132 month with Verizon to less than $59 total with Total Wireless. I highly recommend this service.

Don’t do it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the phone and month card through Best Buy Because the store said I had to purchase online. They screwed up and didn’t activate my card so after waiting 2 weeks for the phone to come in we can’t activate the phone itself. I have now called the total wireless help line 3 times and spoken to a manager and they have yet been able to fix it nobody knows what they’re doing, so if you have any issues they won’t fix it for you. One guy actually told me to call back in 2 hours for it to be fixed, after I spoke to his manager it was confirmed that if I called back it still wouldn’t be fixed but the ticket would expire without resolution. This is another one of those foreign companies with no idea what’s going on. The guy told me to email receipts and that he had no access to email because it was a different department. I told him transfer me to them and he said they don’t have phones. So one department has no email the other no phone, this company is seriously messed up. Do yourself a favor and pay a little extra for the better companies.

2nd tier service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Total wireless is a virtual operator which means they don't have a network but buy time on Verizon's network. What this means is you will not always get speeds and voice levels that are available to true Verizon network. I live right next to a new Verizon tower with 4G and when I tried Totalwireless my service went to 2G and was totally unusable. I spent hours with support who either didn't want to tell me I was a 2nd class user or didn't know themselves. They had me do a factory reset in an attempt to "fix" this problem which did nothing but give me hours of rebuilding my phone. I found a review that explained this 2nd tier service and I switched back. If you can tolerate this reduced service and want to save money it might work for you but it didn't for me.

Total Wireless is HORRIBLE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you never have a problem with your phone - fat chance, then Total Wireless or any plan is fine. But once you have a problem, good luck. The customer service is a joke. After a huge amount of time, you will be connected to a customer service person who is from India and whose English you will not be able to understand. IF you ask for a supervisor, you will be passed off to another agent who is no more a supervisor than I am the Queen of England. Each person you talk to will put you on long holds, and then thank you for "patiently waiting," Your problem will never get resolved. I was told to return my old phone at which time my data would be transferred to a new phone and sent to me. After being without a phone for 7 days, I received my new phone with NOTHING TRANSFERRED. All my contacts, photos and messages were LOST. It took two hours on the phone to learn this. Several times I was hung up on and had to start the process again. Don't fall for the cheap rates - not worth it.
