A decent choice but there are better ones

Benchmarks and options are less than competing software. Best to stick with Norton or Kaspersky, the latter is my current go to software for protection. If your new Best Buy system comes with this, it is certainly worth using for the period they supply up front. Then you can make up your mind to continue or change to one of the others suggested. It appears Best Buy has not been supplying Norton products in stores of late, but I would not let that deter you if you prefer that protection. Kaspersky Total Security is now according to most reputable reviews among the best of this group for 2015.

Basic and Unusable for my purchase

Well it's free, so I'll keep it. Might use it on my laptop for d 6mths and go back to the free one I was using prior.
