Didn't seem to slow our system down too much and nothing horrible has happened to us since we've been using it. Is it all thanks to this? Hard to say. Windows has come a long way in managing their on security so this may not be that essential unless you're routinely getting files from shady sources or setting up a computer for a friend or family member that isn't all that tech savvy.
